One of my favorite moments is the back shoulder throw to Diggs.

LOS = 28 yard line.

Josh throws the ball when Diggs is barely 2 yards downfield at the 30.

He catches the ball around the 38 yard line.

Just perfect and fast timing and placement.

Yes.  This guy stopped me and made me appreciate that throw.   Ramsey in perfect coverage and it simply didn't matter.   Perfection.

One of the keys to the Gabe Davis TD play is not to block downfield, right? If anyone blocks more than one yard downfield, it could be a penalty, if I'm not mistaken.

The key is to make it look like they're blocking for the run.  So in essence, yes, you don't want to be blocking downfield.

Glad I watched that…it even made me feel better about Josh’s “bad” interception.  Not nearly the bad throw I thought it was seeing it live.  The throw was a touch behind but Crowder didn’t help him out either.  Good play by the DB.

As always he does a great job. I am seeing Josh being called a unicorn and a creature a lot lately .. he calls Josh both.

Great find.

I thought it was interesting that he comments Josh's INT to Crowder was "behind him".  You can clearly see the ball leading Crowder as it's released, so I guess what he means is that it's not leading him "enough" and Crowder has to slow down to catch it.  So that may be an adjustment thing, where Crowder's preseason playing time was limited and Josh is mentally more used to the slower Beasley.

Superficially I thought Josh could have thrown an arc (or maybe taken a step R and thrown) over the pile of defenders to Knox, who had miles of grass around him.   I "get it" it's a dangerous business throwing over your OL/DL, if one of your OLmen lets a defender elevate or disengage that could be a deflection and a pick.  I wondered if Knox could have made himself "QB Friendly" and come back to get Josh a better throwing lane.  It was  1st and 10, so if Knox even picks up 4-5 yds it's a positive play.

He's really impressed with Josh switching hands to stiff arm the DB, but Josh is back to holding the ball in his hand as he runs like a Seaworld keeper waving a chunk of tuna over the Orca tank.  Someone needs to get on Josh's ass about tucking the ball away when he runs.

I thought he did a good job of pointing out places where the Rams DBs were out of position pre-snap or not playing correctly.  How much zone do they normally play, anyone know?

I think it's if there's an ineligible receiver (ie, OLman) more than 1 yd downfield without being engaged in blocking an opponent at the time the ball is thrown.  So that's a tricky penalty because the OLman can be more than a yard downfield blocking, but if the opponent is savvy and disengages just before or just as the pass is thrown then it's a penalty.

Practically speaking, that means it's better to stay within 1 yd of the LOS

Bills got called for ineligible receiver downfield a few times last season IIRC.  It's especially hard for the line on RPOs.

I think both Allen and Crowder could have done better.  Allen forced the pass, and Crowder slowed down at the end of his route and allowed the coverage to catch up

It looks like an option route where Crowder is supposed to sit in zone or keep moving in man. He kind of does both. Slows down and squares up but keeps slowly drifting towards the sideline instead of coming back to the ball. And give credit to the DB for making a great play on the ball. I put this play on Crowder more than Allen, but ultimately it's a timing and feel play between two new teammates that are working out some kinks at the beginning of the season. The chemistry will come with more reps. Crowder will learn what Allen likes and vice versa. In a few weeks they'll run the same play and it will be a big completion.

Here's a hot take: I think Josh Allen is going to go down in NFL history as the most dangerous, unstoppable red zone QB of all time. I already think he's the best red zone rushing threat of all time from the quarterback position.

He's 33 rushing TDs away from being the Bills' all time leader. That means he's statistically more likely than not to end his career as the Bills' all time leader in touchdown rushes, ahead of two Hall of Fame running backs!! Just ridiculous.

If you're a defensive coordinator against Josh Allen in the red zone, what do you do? How do you defend him? You just kind of...CAN'T.

"Unicorn" is right. "Creature" is right. "One of one" is right. He's special.

Well there's the rub. He can pass it. He can run it. He can look like he's running it and then pass it. He can look like he's passing it and then run it. Or he can hand it off and go run a route and catch it.

He can throw an accurate 60 yard pass on the run, without being set, and while on his tippy toes!
