Ok I’m going to break this comment down because apparently this is some of your guy’s first year following free agency

 

Each team is allowed a certain amount of money each year to spend on players. It’s called a salary cap. Try to follow along. The Bills are really close to hitting that cap. Now I said Morse could have been a potential salary cap cut because of his salary, not because of his play on the field. He was already making a lot of money, top 10 salary on team.

 

Now some teams base their cuts on the particular players salary, especially if they are close to the cap. When I said I was “indifferent” about this, it was because he was given a raise. Does Morse deserve a raise? In most situations I would say absolutely. But like I’ve been sating, we are close to the cap and we have some needs.

Probably part of the 11.5 mil is a bonus which will be spread out for cap purposes

IMHO Morse was the best OLman on the Bills most of the season.  YMMV 🤷‍♂️

 

But I think letting go of Williams and extending Morse is a big clue as to what kind of OL Kromer envisions here - athletic guys, not big road graders or guys who are trying to be athletic and failing.

His original contract was 4 million at 11 million per year average.  Not really a significant pay raise is it?

Agree, don’t understand the raise part. Will wait to see what the guarantees and 2022 cap hit us.
