Good Lord this seems like a negative thread after a playoff win. I disagree with a number of points but my takeaway is this: the Bills win! 🦬🏈

Learn and move on to 2-0.

Milano was one of the few defenders to consistently make plays.  Edmunds was awful again.

The Bills are soft in the front 7 and it has been evident most of the season.  Their best hope is to simply score early and often to force the opponent into abandoning the run game.

This is so true.

Great write up as usual. Bass is a weapon, another great Beane pick. Speaking of picks:

Can't wait to see what Davis does with a real offseason.

Wonder who replaces Moss?

Daboll, I like the QB draws but please stop it with the QB sweeps.

I just want to say, big ups to the Colts for coming out strong today and being a real challenge. If we had to lose to anybody this postseason, Frank Reich’s Colts would’ve been the least detestable.

Go Bills!!!

So true. If we do reach the AFC championship game against the Chiefs, I will have nightmares thinking about Kelce as will Leslie Frazier.

Doesn't everyone?  He was contention for most receiving yards this season.

More than half the points were positive.  For a 3 point win, that seems about right

I feel good about it too but you gotta admit, that was one frustrating day.

I read the first paragraph and I also couldn’t sleep and was anxious all morning (in Cali here) so I had to start drinking around 9 to the end of the game. I tried to nap afterwards but couldn’t. I’ll be sleeping hard tonight haha

With regards to #1 easy way for the Bills to stop Indy from milking the clock, score more points and stop Indy on occasion.  Did Indy ever go 3 and out this game?  Think the Bills were too conservative in the 1st half, maybe it was due to their poor field position or just got to cute.  One drive I recall they ran for 8 yards on 1st down, then on both 2nd and 3rd ran again and think they may have even lost a yard or two.

Was talking with someone else who thought that considering the Bills didn't seem to be able to stop Indy, they actually hurt themselves by milking the clock.  If they had ran plays faster, they may have had more scoring chances.

Think the Bills should use their first round pick on a CB, wondering if they did that, could they move Wallace into the nickel position or would his skills not line up?  Or do we need to get a replacement for T Johnson.  Seems he's very up and down.  Just about when you're ready to give up on him, he has a good game again.

Agree with Bill Cowlers post game comments, Bills need to:

Run the ball better

Stop the run

Rush the passer

I'll add defend the TE

That’s been all year that want happen until next year when we get someone to do that job.

Play Klein for run support and pass rush or view him as a coverage liability?  Would have liked him in the first half to de-establish the Colts run game.

It was but there were many points in the OP’s message that didn’t hold up to my watch and re-watch of the game. Crashing now so can’t elaborate.

Replays clearly showed White going the other way and leaving the TE wide open. Milano signaled to White that he was expecting help on that play.  It was definitely busted

.  Never in my football watching history have I seen a team run the playclock down to 1 (arguably 0) on so many plays.  Honestly, it really infuriated me at times and felt cowardly.

I actually think the strategy behind that was that Rivers would wait until 5 seconds left on the playclock, change the play at the LOS, then quickly snap the ball, not allowing the Bills D to adjust to his audible. I could be wrong, but it seemed that way to me.

It is the playoffs..we are playing against the best players and best coaches in the league.  It was a  "Welcome to the NFL Playoffs" moment for the Bills,  Glad they did not let the weight of the moment get to them.

7 - Milano had an up and down game, and his blown coverage led to a touchdown.  To my untrained eye, it seems like he lost contain on a few of the big runs, but I could be wrong.

Your usual awesome job Virg.

1 - At some point (perhaps after the 2nd close call), you tell Rivers and Reich, "You're flirting with 0 on the play clock too much, the next one is a flag".  You have to keep them honest.  They should have done the same for the Colts Oline holding.  They didn't even call the rear naked choke on Epenesa, or Addison being tackled as he gets around the OL and is right in front of Rivers.  You have to call one of those early just to keep them honest.

7 - The Cookie was nails in the first half, but he totally fell apart in the 2nd half.  The Colts TE's (especially "Popeye" Doyle) absolutely pwned him in the 2nd half.  He yakked on so many coverages it was pathetic.  He's gonna need to do better next week.  Epenesa also needs to do better, as he was acutally the one not setting the edge on many big Taylor runs.

You didn't mention one of the biggest decisions of the day.  McDermott calling the TO to force the refs to review the fumble was a masterstroke of genius proportions.  How many coaches have we had that take that TO home and never use it in that situation?  The NFL knew they screwed up by not reviewing it, so they gave us our TO back, even though they still booted the call.  When I heard "The Bills are not charged with a TO", I started jumping and screaming thinking the game was over.  Bastards.
