Week 13 SNF: Denver at KC

Recommended Posts

The Broncos are a perfectly mediocre football team. With some better luck (injuries, the ridiculous no-QB COVID game) and better in-game coaching, they would be right in the middle of the wild card hunt. The Bills-Broncos game is shaping up to be a good one after all.

By the way, when did teams stop "giving up" in seasons like the Broncos are having? They played hard with no QB last week, and they're doing the same thing as overwhelming underdogs tonight.

The Chiefs losing (if it happens), for me, serves 2 purposes...drops them closer to us, and pisses them off going in to Dolphins game.

Yes, exactly what i was thinking.  You want KC going into Miami coming off a loss.

I recall Kelse saying something on TV before the Buffalo game that (KC) will never lose two in a row.

The Broncos are playing defense the only way you can against Mahomes and these weapons. Don't let them score in 2 plays. Give them easier yards underneath and wait for them to either make a mistake or falter in the red zone. This is how we played them but our offense didn't get it done.

Our defense was trash against KC.  I have no idea why people think that was a good performance.

I’m fine with the concept, but our execution was terrible.  Just ended up with KC holding the ball all game.

We give up 160+ yards to CEH alone.  So far, the Chiefs haven’t broken 100 yards rushing as a team.

They held the ball all game because Allen and the offense were terrible... for the strategy to work the offense has to sustain drives.

I agree.  I think our D NOW could have maybe slowed the run and taken away the explosive play.

Two things can be true.

Offense playing poorly in that game, doesn’t mean the defense didn’t.

100%

We went from a bottom 5 defense back then, to a top 10 defense now.

So spinning a football and looking at your opponent...15 yard penalty.  Arrogantly stopping at the goal line, turning around, and taunting your opponent...no penalty.  Got it.  Hill is a woman beating pile of crap...but that is forgotten because the Chiefs are the new Patriots.

I thought for a second they were going to call the play dead because Hill stopped trying to make forward progress. That would have been the correct result if the holding penalty hadn't called it back anyway.

Remember this one?

Hate the giving himself up stuff. Shouldn’t be in the rules anywhere. Let the actions speak. In the Watkins example, if the guy gets out of bounds, he’s out of bounds. They always talk about simplifying officiating and never do. Everything should be absolutely black and white. Officials are there to enforce the rules, not create them.

On another note, Colinsworth endless slobbering over Mahomes is unbearable. I say it every week I feel, but good god someone needs to tell this guy how annoying he is.

Hate that punt for Denver. Conservative coaching is a death sentence when facing a high powered offense.

Fangio is a horrible head coach. No clue how he keeps his job after this season. I’d be shocked if Elway doesn’t send him packing. Broncos can do way better than Fangio.

Hey, I'm no fan of the rule. But Hill stood stationary for a couple seconds before his backflip. I think in other circumstances, like running backwards to try to kill the clock, etc., similar actions result in a whistle.

Plus it would teach him not to do that again...

Chiefs are now back to the spot on the field where the Broncos punted from. What an unpredictable outcome.

Exactly. Needed a stop whether the Chiefs got the ball at the 50 or the 25. Horrible decision, but Fangio has never been a good coach.

Oh I’m all for anything that hurts the Chiefs 😂
