love the fact that we are on an up cycle....never count the Pats out, check Beanos and McD record against, Dolphins on the rise and are well-coached, the Jets are the Jets but will rise up in the swamps of Jersey and give us hell, we have some quality opponents this year so before the annual annointing of our D as "elite" and the 12-4 posts, lets see how good Josh is with Diggs and how good our interior line is before we make Super Bowl plans..

Remember when Sports Illustrated wasn't a trash content mill? I remember.

I hadn't picked up an SI in close to 20 years, but my BIL in England subscribes and for some reason his issues started coming to our house a few months ago.  I was astounded at how poorly written and presented this magazine is now.  It's the same lazy, low-IQ, low-attention span, over-hyped nonsense that you get on cable TV news or sports programs or internet blogs.  Sad.

They cut costs a couple of years ago and lost a lot of talent. It is a sad state of affairs now.

People act like it's impossible that the Bills could have a bad season.

It's not.

I happen to think they'll have a winning record, but it is COMPLETELY within the realm of possibility that they won't.

They DO have a really tough schedule.

They WON'T have the usual home field advantage.

Aside from those two factors, we also just don't know how they'll react to being pre-season favorites and getting four primetime games. It happens ALL THE TIME in the NFL that a young, hungry, upstart team starts tasting success and getting some positive press, and suddenly they don't quite practice or play as hard, and they fail to meet expectations. Do I think that will happen to this squad? No, I don't. I think they're still hungry and view themselves as underdogs, and that McDermott and Beane have built the type of team who won't fall victim to this phenomenon. But until we see them actually start playing well now that expectations are higher, we can't know for sure that they will.

7-9 is absolutely not out of the realm of possibility.

Home field is a good point, but I'm encouraged that it may not matter so much. The Bills struggled at home last year (4-4, and even had some wins that shouldn't have been as hard as they were, MIA/CIN) and are playing in stadiums with some fans (MIA/TEN) that traditionally have strong Bills representations.

On multiple fronts, this weird season may play into the Bills' strengths

likes the Dolphins a lot - better than us..also  pundits outside the 716 dont think we are all that and a bag of chips...

What I don’t like for Buffalo is how their schedule dovetails into some pretty gnarly stretches, like Weeks 3-6 (Rams, at Raiders, at Titans, at Chiefs) then Weeks 8-14 (Patriots, Seahawks, at Cardinals, Chargers, at 49ers, Steelers). Those could be the kind of uphill climbs that blow up a season quickly.

It really sucks that W6 vs Chiefs was moved to Arrowhead. Hopefully we get some other game at home instead.

Sports Illustrated was gutted last year. They replaced all their salaried veteran high quality sports reporters who had been there from their print days with cheap freelances who are nothing more than amateur bloggers. SI is a sad husk of its former self.

Yep - great read on what happened:

This was one of the last articles Deadspin put out before their entire team quit! They put out some very unique content over the years. I wasn't always a fan, but some they had some gems here and there. The new Deadspin absolutely sucks.

Their expectations were high last season. Expectations come from within, not from the outside.
