This is all overblown.  The entire draft could be conducted with landlines and cell phones. Is it really important that the HC, GM and scouts of any team see each other via some

video conferencing software?  Do trades take place between teams over video and wifi?

If I was Beane I’d be glad for no video so I wouldn’t have Terry Pegula staring at me with that goofy look for 3 days.

C’mon man!

Well, there’s your problem right there.

We're on great terms, so it's great all around. But yeah, her internet blows.

Millions of people manage to draft fantasy football teams online every year. This isn't really that complex.

I hope this was in jest because

No one is trying to hack your draft,

you don't have 31 other people online at the same time trying to make trades while talking to your scouting departments.

This Complexities of this are insane.

100% right.  If you cant figure out how to draft using a laptop you shouldnt be running a multi million dollar franchise.   Also, maybe your wife doesn't vacuum near the cords?  Unless she utterly hates you vacuuming can wait a few hours.

because drafting a fantasy team is much like running an NFL franchise.

Oh damn my team sucked this year im out 100 bucks.

Vs

oh damn my first round pick was a bust potentially setting my franschise back years and being out millions

I think it’s ridiculous they can’t use the team facilities for this..

Fully agree, they should be able to have 5 or 6 people in a big room without compromising any public health or employee health. This virtual draft is going to be a ***** show.

this is a very underrated post. i honestly hadnt thought of that.

fantasy football owners don't have to communicate with a staff of scouts and pro personnel while on the clock, potentially a thousand miles away from each others, arguing over a prospect

It's always easier just to talk face-to-face

Also this was interesting from Beane a week or so ago..

Recently speaking with Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane supported a potential solution to this problem, proposed by Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert, where the traditional seven-round draft would be expanded to 10 rounds.

Each year after the draft, teams suddenly become the ones pitching to prospects as those who don't get selected become free agents, getting to sign anywhere they prefer.

With team facilities closed and front office members, coaches, and scouts only connected online or over the phone, this process becomes quite a challenge.

"When you’re doing free agency like that after the seventh round, you’ve got everybody still in your draft room or at least down the hall,” Beane told Florio. “Now, trying to communicate because you only have so many dollars that you can allocate from a bonus and so lot of times you have several deals going. Once you agree to one, you’ve got to pull out of the others. If you’re chasing three tackles hoping to land one. If you’ve offered $15,000 to one and maybe you’re talking $12,000 to the other, but you don’t want them both. Once you get one in the boat, you’ve got to back out on the other. It’s a moving target. I think that will be an obstacle for all teams as we work through it remotely.”

Video meetings among far more people at a time are happening everywhere every day.

There's nothing that should make this such a problem.

Like: "i'd rather go walk down the hall to talk to our cap guy than simply look at his face live on the screen and ask him."  LOL

We have a meeting everyday on Skype with over 50 people with zero issues for about a month now. The NFL is funny.

Not at all saying the consequences of failing at it were the same.  The comparison wasnt saying fantasy football is the same as real football, the comparison was more based around the fact if you cant use a laptop to do the task of selecting a football player you may not be the brightest crayon in the box.

I mean seriously, some guy's wife was vacuuming near him during one of the most important days of the year he has at his multi-million dollar job?   Many of us take meetings from home on a daily at our "little jobs", and I think we know better than to be around a running vacuum.

Yeah Beane talked it let me find it

Also interesting he said there will be less trades something about a one time 2 minute extension if a trade is made, and issues with the UDFA period.

While the pegs release employees it sounds like there is plenty of coin for av needs
