Critical 10x assumption may be invalid with more  testing.

Considering that this is from the beginning till now and my belief based off the means of the antibody tests that it was closer to x 15-20.    X 10 seems like a safe bet.  That is the lowball CDC estimate.

Who even notices when some poster disappears beside the drunk guy?

EU confirms ban on US travelers. Bad bad news. My dad lives in Buffalo and has a house in Canada on Lake Erie that’s been in our family for 50 years. They live there most of the year and can’t get to it. May miss a lot more than the summer at this point.

Most of us. We tend to pay attention. It's why most of us have noticed that your veil has slipped.

Yesterday, Friday, only California reported over 50 deaths from Covid 19, and only fifteen states were in double digits. So now, with the fatality figures pretty much universally reset back to new lows it’ll be interesting to see what happens across the southern states in a week or two following their significant rise in new cases. If they don’t report a spike in fatalities we’ll know for sure that something has changed (either in our behavior once infected, in the age of the inflicted, or in our medical ability to treat the problem). Stay tuned...this won’t take long.

Don't you have more threads to delete, Gary?

Is that one where you called out @SoCal Deek in the thread title (you know, the kind of thing that can get someone banned) still there?

Hey! Leave me out of it. I like having a thread named after me. It’s way better than a statue. We now know those darn statues have a really short shelf life! My thread will last into eternity. ?

That’s exactly why I’ll continue to focus on fatalities. As I’ve repeatedly stated, you’re either dead or not. I remain encouraged by the significant reduction in deaths. Whether the experts were right or wrong, I think we all can agree we’d like to see less people die from this virus.

The only problem with the fatality numbers is "with" being "from."  Deaths are skewed, too. Still, if you use have been using the skewed death numbers for the last few months, it is probably the best focus.

In any event, this "COVID cases are rising, we are all gonna diiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee, head back to the basement" that is being pushed by the "msm" and panic porn enthusiasts seem to be ignoring that we want herd immunity (ummm or was that last week?), with more testing comes more diagnosis (ummm or was more testing last week?), and as long as the hospital beds are not full, you gotta go on with life (or was flatten the curve er, three months ago?)

Is that something you thought people didn't know?

Both the EU and Canada are banning US travelers--Canada did it sooner and will likely keep it up. I was just relaying a personal anecdote about that. My parents are beside themselves--it's where they live most of the time and they are barred. First time ever.

There's some horrible stuff going on with not being able to cross the border. One of my husband's tenants has a son in Toronto. He was diagnosed with cancer (like his body is riddled with it), he's in his early 20s. She can't get over to see him.  Simply heartbreaking.

Well, it could be a lot worse for your parents. They could be sick. Which I hope and pray that doesn't happen. Just a little perspective my man, not a death wish on your family.

I hope your folks stay safe.

...there is NO political in minutia......unexplained cases have more horsepower, fanning the fear flames.....I have 210 employees in a NYS described "essential business", with 180 electricians in the field....we have taken every precaution and have complied with mandated as well as recommended compliance steps, spending $17,500+ to date......RESULT through yesterday: not ONE Covid-19 case.....there is and will always be a segment of society as in "defiant, non-compliant, macho/bravado, won't get me"   intelligent set..........

***** every single right wing conservative in america

because you can't follow a simple mask order it has resulted in hundreds of deaths per state

because you have turned a global pandemic virus into a political statement (like you do with everything) states reopened too quickly and are paying the consequences

FOX news needs to be disbanded and taken down after these last few months for spreading false information and bull#### propaganda that has indirectly led to american lives lost because they refuse to acknowledge the severity of this virus

GOOD NEWS: UPMC doctor sees too much focus on rising COVID-19 cases, too little on declining severity and hospitalizations.

Related: Hospital patients four times less likely to die now than they were in April, Oxford study finds.

Related: Heather Mac Donald: Where Are The Deaths? “In May, Georgia was the main target of expert contempt for its allegedly premature reopening. Since then, the media have gone silent, due to the state’s truly discouraging downward daily death toll from a high of 119 on April 7, long before the reopenings, to 10 on June 24. . . . There are no crises in hospital capacity anywhere in the country. Nursing homes, meat-packing plants, and prisons remain the main sources of new infections.”

Also: Getting Realistic About The Coronavirus Death Rate.

Nearly all the studies find between 10 and 100 times the number of total infections as reported infections, with the average somewhere around 20 to 25 times.

In other words, while the CDC reports 2.34 million Americans have been infected with the coronavirus, the actual number of infected and recovered people may be closer to 50 million. (CDC Director Robert Redfield told journalists Thursday that the number of cases may be 10 times higher than the earlier 2.34 million.)

Thus, the death rate, which would be 5.2 percent based on that 2.34 million figure, is actually more like one-20th as high — or 0.26 percent.

It can be awful in some people,

but overall it’s turning out to be nowhere near as bad as we feared a few months ago.

And that’s good!
