So Trumpian... pennies for you and me - millions for the rich.  Love how the GreedOverPeople is looking out for small businesses and average Americans like Buffalo Bills fans...

Over 43,000 US millionaires will get ‘stimulus’ averaging $1.6 million each

Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me 10,000 times, I must be a Trump supporter

Hello everyone, and I had the opportunity to visit Cassandra at Buffalo Children's today. As mentioned she is off the Ecmo machine and doing most of the work. It will take some time for her to heal. S

I have stayed away from this forum for a long time, and most know my politics...tonight was important for our country. Trump was up to it so far. Fantastic job.

So deaths that occur in clusters are more tragic than those that occur continually?

My point is, there are a lot of deaths that occur every day in this country that are preventable. To what degree do we go to prevent them?

Do you remember what travel was like on September 10? If you do, then you know the answer.

And as far as these deaths go, they would not spike up to where they are now, and then go away, so yes, we need to react to these deaths in a different way. If Covid-19 is here every year killing 100K+ people a year for the foreseeable future, then it will become something we get used to dealing with in the same way we deal with cancer, driving deaths, etc. But right now our healthcare, morgues, nursing homes etc cannot deal with this.

I edited my post that you responded to. My point is not that we shouldn’t be reacting to these deaths in a different way. My point was how far do we go? My illustration of the millions of deaths that occurred in this country every year was to say that there are hundreds of thousands of deaths that occur every year in this country that are preventable. To what degree do we go to to prevent them?

Elective surgeries resuming cannot come soon enough.  A lot of hospitals are getting ready to lay off staff (if they have not already started).

The small hospital where I live have 60 on lay off , dentist emergencies only.  When this started it was to save PPE for metro NYC

Once they have enough stock and low volume covid they should restart.

We don't shut down. We can't stay shut down here either. I think the federal level system unveiled yesterday makes a lot of sense to get out of this. I expect states will follow some of these courses

(1) States/regions will go through the phases and return to normal without tracing/tracking (best case, unlikely)

(2) State/regions will bounce between levels 0-1-2 and back multiple times, while ignoring tracing/tracking and fudging other requirements, growing herd immunity but messing with the economy over a longer course of time (most likely)

(3) States will do some bouncing and then get on board with tracing and tracking and move through the phases linearly

(4) States will try the guidelines and eventually just say ***** it and trample the dead bodies on the way to herd immunity

Americans are waking up, save for the 35% that are just plain racist and dumb AF.

Trump’s poll numbers continue to decline.

2/3 of Americans say he acted too slowly.

2/3 of Americans say they are concerned about reopening too quickly.

73% expect the outbreak to get worse.

Most Americans Say Trump Was Too Slow in Initial Response to Coronavirus Threat | Wide concern that states will lift COVID-19 restrictions too quickly

Key Bank for me.  Long story short, my wife submitted her app, I submitted mine. Seems the fact that we used the same email address (our home address) brought the entire %$#@ing system down. My wife's was approved, which helps assuming they fund--they assure us they will, mine still lost in limbo. 20 phone calls, emails, promises but in the end, nothing.

Credit union squeeze was diff.  Exec level manager told me they tried to help many, probably too many, and were too stringent.

I'm really sorry to hear about your issues Snaf, best of luck on the next go round.

At least you got to talk with a human wrt your Credit Union.

With Chase, I did get a human, but he’s like the low man at the car dealership. Can’t talk to anyone else.

I chose snafu for my screen name based upon personal experience.

Good luck to you, too, Len.  The money isn’t desperate by any stretch, but I’m only speaking for me, not my staff — who may feel different and who are relying on me.

Experts barely understand this virus and how to treat it.

Gotta give them a bit more time. That’s my view. And by “a bit” I mean not a lot.  Now is treatment focused, as far as I’d do things. Open up slowly to keep hospitalizations and the R-factor down.

Is that what you took away from that?  FYI, they are not loans if used to keep folks employed and fund payroll, the PPP extends grant money, ya silly goose.

On your point about being connected--I agree with you, those with the capacity and power get in line first and have the resources to get things accomplished that I do not.  That's an unfortunate part of life, but it's a reality that is on a continuous auto-loop decade after decade after decade.  As an example, @transplantbillsfan indicated he is a teacher.  Seems like a nice enough guy, probably has a couple loose screws upstairs ?, who knows--maybe he feels the same about me, or thinks about me not at all.  I don't know where he works, but let's assume he's a teacher in the public school system.  Relative to most Americans, he would be a have.  Income continues unchecked, benefits continue unchecked, pension continues unchecked and ultimately unmarred by market performance on the down side.  There has not been one call, one scream, nor even a whisper to stop/forgive/defer/negotiate property and school taxes even though "people are hurting".  I'm self employed, my business is impacted and I shared my PPP story.  I still have to figure a way to pay the king come October, like it or not, income challenged or not.

He's a have*. I'm a have not.

Do we really have to pretend this doesn't play out everyday across the country, pandemic or not?

It seems silly to me.  I wish nothing but good things for Transpy as a human being, but the facts are what they are.

Stay safe.

*Again, in my analogy, the presumption is Transplant isn't the Sex Ed teacher at Cardinal O'Hara.

I don’t disagree with this. My original post was to someone wanting an indefinite shut down until the virus is completely under control

If the left is still thinking, as billstime suggests, that their opponents are merely driven by being "racist and dumb af" then they didn't learn ***** from 2016 and will endure another lesson in 2020
