Streaming help!

Recommended Posts

I don’t live in Buffalo anymore and my friend (who i was splitting Sunday Ticket with) has decided not to renew this season. I live in Long Island so I’ve been able to see the first two games, but now I’ve got nothing.

Im exploring youtubetv and Hulu live, but I’m not sure if they will allow me to stream out of market games. The website seems to indicate that WIVB is available, but if it’s out of market will i be able to watch it still? Can i plug in a buffalo zip code and get the games that way?

20 years I’ve been waiting to watch good football and now this.

If you have Verizon for your cell provider, there's a good chance the NFL app is already on your phone and it streams games. I'm not sure if there are restrictions based on location or anything but it's worked for me in a pinch before.

interesting, thanks, i pay Verizon have to look into this

I say the cheapest and easiest way is to call DTV and tell them you've moved back to your winter home in Buffalo now, and brought your receiver with you and you'd like to begin getting your beloved Buffalo local channels again.   They'll transfer you to the Dish Movers Department, you should probably ask for that department first because the reps at DTV are complete idiots.

Tell them you brought your dish with you and installed it on your roof (they'll ask to send out a tech or an installer, just tell them it's all done and there's no need).

Use someone's address in the 716 that you know doesn't have DTV.     This will be your INSTALL address and will give you full local Buffalo channels.  As far as DTV knows (or cares) this is where you live until further notice.   Tell them you still want your Long Island home to be the billing address, so nothing changes there.

Make sure you're in front of the TV because the rep will send down a new signal for the receiver and it helps if you're watching the TV so you can confirm that the switch is made.

Done.  Now you get local Buffalo channels (and Ad's which will be funny when your Long Island Buddies ask you why they've never heard of ECMC)   You don't have to stream, you can record everything on your Genie and you get all Bills games, including pre and post game coverage if it's on local TV.   It'll be just like you lived back home.

After the season if you get sick of seeing West Herr Ford commercials you can call the dish movers department and tell them you've moved back to your Long Island Lair and would like local channels reset to reflect that area.

I've used this system many times in the old days to get blacked out games here in Rochester.  I'd call in an install address outside the blackout zone for the season and get all the games.    Don't wait until game day to do this because there can be big waits on the phone on weekends.

Reddit streaming is dead. It's now through Sportsurge as Gonzo pointed out. I watch all my sports on that. Most CFB streams are HD quality. Most marquee NFL games are HD quality. Sometimes the Bills games or NFL games in general will get a lag here or there. All in all, it's easy as hell to use.

Verizon will only give you the games shown on your local stations, so little help there.

But re--read what was posted above for some good solutions.

Reddit has been alive and well for me in central PA. Not dead at all...

Not true at all. Still works as always.

Well at least that's what a friend of a friend told me.  Also did  confirm this Sportsurge works too.

Provide me a link to an active reddit streaming forum for NFL or College Football please. Shutdown happened about 3 weeks ago.

Was working this Sunday, that's a fact.

Can tell you I also had heard Reddit wasn't working prior to the season starting, that it was shut down.  First week of season my "friend" used Sportssurge, but afterwards did notice Reddit had all the usual links.  This past week, worked like it always did.  Would say links seemed to not work as well as past years with regards to stopping and having to re-start, but it is working.  Sportsurge also didn't work very well week 2 either realistically they were both about the same, neither was great.

Interesting. Fair enough. I just used Sportsurge after the shutdown and didn't look back. Looks like the historical CFB thread is still shut down. That's what I really love it for. CFB games are always no lag, HD. NFL games seem to be a little more hit and miss, but not exactly something you can complain about. I like my sub $50 a month all in cable/internet Bill with a $20 in Roku subscriptions. Sports was the only frustrating part in that set up until I found the holy grail.

Same story here too the first week.  Only afterwards someone here mentioned that it was still working. Maybe for whatever reason CFB didn't come back, but admittedly kind of strange.

NFL Gamepass - You can listen to the game live. But you can watch the game shortly after the game has ended.

PLUS - you can watch any NFL game you want and you can watch them all year long.

It really made the Off season bearable.

This.  Gamepass will give you condensed 45 minute replays of the game.

I have AT&T uverse, I used to get redzone through that and it was my sunday watching, at least then you see the Bills TDs and key moments (for the most part, this past week they did a pretty poor job of showing the Bills game).  I had to subscribe to slingtv to get that this year because of AT&T.  If I didn't get almost every single college game through my cable package, I would have already slashed AT&T.
