OrtonHearsaWho 138 Posted September 12 19 seems about right at this but I agree that the comment about the defense is pretty bizarre. Milano was exposed a few times against Bell but he had fewer than 100 total yards...that's awfully good against a top 3 back in the league.
McBean 1,129 Posted September 12 It’s very simple. Until Josh Allen can consistently week in, week out, have good to great performances, the media will think we stink.
Buffalo Timmy 274 Posted September 12 I agree this assessment is trash but laughing about it is the only thing we can do since writers are not paid to be accurate but to get clicks.

Then pundits have to, grudgingly, give us some credit. 1

MJS 3,469 Posted September 12 Ranking is fine. Saying the defense was too pliable is just ignorant. Our D had an excellent game. Is this from NFL.com? If so I think it's Dan Hanzus.
mannc 1,670 Posted September 12 The Bills defense gave up a grand total of 8 points, despite the Jets having 3 extra possessions due to turnovers. I don’t think that word “pliable” means what he thinks it does.

I'm pretty sure Allen could rack up a 79% completion rate with 5500 yards, 48 TDs, 7 INTs, 512 rushing yards and another 7 TDs on the ground, win the Super Bowl, win the SB and league MVPs... and the first thing I'd read following the game would be, "We just don't know about this Josh Allen yet, so erratic!" 2 1

dlonce 184 Posted September 12 I don’t care about power rankings, it’s subjective to the ranker. To call the Bills defense as “pliable” questions the writers (both) knowledge of the game. Parroting someone else’s narrative is pink slip worthy in my opinion. People are generally lazy, depending on the perception of others for their information and regurgitating what they see/hear. I agree with you. I’m a huge Allen fan. The media hates the kid though. Thats why I said every week he’s going to have to be incredible for people to start believing this team is foreal. Hopefully just rust. We were very lucky to win that game and that standing is okay. Defense did bend at times but never broke. There's no doubt he was a disappointment? What game did you watch? I saw a Qb moving the offense up and down the field against a tough defense. I would hardly call him a disappointment!

I think people are more laughing at the fact that the defense received no credit in the write up. At least that is what I am laughing at. A defense that allows 8 points and keeps Le’Veon Bell to under 100 yards is classified as “damn good” in my book. I don’t care if the opponent is the Jets, Miami or Arizona. Holding any NFL team to 8 points is a massive accomplishment. Edited September 12 by Bills2ref

DCofNC 71 Posted September 12 I remember a year starting off 5-1 with all the wins over joke teams and barely scraping by.. Trent Edwards was the bext Joe Montana and the Bills were a sexy team in the Power Rankings.. then reality hit.
4_kidd_4 1,264 Posted September 12 The only “power rankings” that matter are the W/L columns. People keep falling for the clickbait and then get all worked up about it, hook/line/sinker.
Socal-805 71 Posted September 12 13 hours ago, NC Book said: Not sure that I would say he regressed. As far as taking care of the ball, then yeah maybe, even though 3 of them were quite flukey. I don't think that will be the norm. But set a new high in passing yards and probably completion percentage, as well. He didn't explode for 5 TD's like week 18, but there was definitely meat left on the bone point wise for this offense. He looked more comfortable in the pocket and for the most part, more decisive imo. I think good things are on the horizon for the guy. If Allen has another game or 2 like this past game, Bills wil be looking for a QB in 2020. IMO.
dollars 2 donuts 2,276 Posted September 12 Just so I am hoping a lot of us are on the same page, our defense was typically great, but Allen did lead them back from 16-0 in the third, and 11 points in the fourth and did score two TDs in the fourth, through the air and with his feet, with the pass being for more than 30 yards... So, in my personally opinion I don't view this like some of the nationals do that they won "in spite of Allen"...no...Allen was very much a part of why they won. It would have been nice not to have the turnovers have the game be a 31-8 score, but still.
OldTimeAFLGuy 6,894 Posted September 12 ...meaningless.....PFT's Florio has Bills at #18 yet both he and Smith picked Bflo this week vs G-Men.............. 18. Bills (1-0; No. 20): Bills fans should be contributing to Kaare Vedvick’s foundation.

It just gets so old hearing the talking heads clinging to their pre-draft evaluations. It's as if they think players become static upon getting in the NFL. "Here's what they did at college... and that'll be it, they've peaked. They can't improve, they can't refine their skill set, they can't learn new things, they can't be a better player than they already are!" So lame.
Nextmanup 1,632 Posted September 12 Maybe I'm biased, but it feels like we should be ranked #1 after last week.
ngbills 439 Posted September 12 Rankings look right. Roughly speaking top 16 teams make the playoffs. We are right there competing for two wild card spots with the likes of LAC, TEN/HOU, PIT/BAL/CLE. We beat on ok Jets team. One that lost its best defensive player which was clearly a deciding factor.
