Irv
If it wasn't before, starting this topic confirms that I need to get a life. If we were to somehow get Kentucky's Josh Allen in the draft: Has there ever been two players on the same NFL team, at the same time, with the same name? What names would be on the back of their jersey's?
mrags
They play on opposite sides of the ball. It would just be Allen for both of them.
thebandit27
Yes, at one point Cleveland had at least two (maybe 3) Andre Davises EDIT: it was 2002-2004, and there were only 2 of them. Both players had "Davis" on the back of their uniform--the rule that required initials went by the wayside years ago. BillsfaninChicago
Pooh Bear Williams and Pat Williams were on the Bills team at the same time. That isn’t exactly what you asked but I just felt like typing Pooh Bear Williams.

Tuco
I bet we could solve the dilemma by giving each player a big number - much bigger even than the name tag. Just an idea. 1

LabattBlue
Rule 3.14 in the CBA states that a team cannot have two players with the same name during the regular season. Prior to this rule being added, you could have 53 Josh Allen's if you wanted to.
MJS
I'm not sure why this would ever be an issue, even if they were both on the same side of the ball, even if they were both at the same position. They would have different numbers. The officials use the numbers to differentiate players. You don't even need the names on the back of the jerseys.
