Le’Veon Bell Signinig With the Jets

It might not mean much but it's a very bad look for Bell.  He's already starting off on the wrong foot with the media and probably the team and most fans.

Then again, did Beasley ever end up showing for the Bills' voluntary camp?

McCagnan hasn't been good at all.... but I can't really get on the guy for shelling out money to a playmaker like Bell when the team has an infinite amount of cap space. He also did what was necessary to secure his franchise QB in Darnold.

Jets will go where Darnold takes them, which will look good or bad on McCagnan depending on how he does.

if bell ends up putting somewhere over 1500 all purpose yards they get their moneys worth with bell.  I don't like their o line and they tried to address it with the center but lost out.  I think Taylor should be their pick and a center in the second. Then I will be worried about them. Oh yea they don't have a second. Nice!

Man this doesn’t seem like it’s gonna work out for the jets. I wanted the bills to sign him but I’m glad to be wrong.

So it’s not going to work out because of this? Please explain.

He gets another year because of Sam. Dude had 3 players drop in his lap in the draft. He can not evaluate talent at all.

The media only had access the first day, so there were no reports on anything OTA related after that. Also, Beasley quit twitter so can’t get that angle. Not sure if he’s on IG but I’ll check.

Edit: he is on IG but not a lot of posts. Pic of a baby girl 3 days ago.

if it's starting out bad it's probably not going to finish well.  bell has a ton of talent and you better hope he's gonna show up and give it all he has.  you expect him to be a captain on this team and show up for every event no matter how small.

He has better things to do than be with his team. Priorities! It’s not “required” so what’s the point?

I mean.... oh...

I don’t expect him to be a captain at all, Sam is out leader. I don’t care what he does, just produce.

Excuses for what? Season hasn’t even started, and your basing your argument off of voluntary workouts. But if a Bills player does it then it’s ok.

I’m not arguing anything. I said it was a bad look. You disagree? That’s fine. Just say you disagree. You are making excuses that he doesn’t need to be a leader, etc. If Bills fans don’t buy that, don’t be surprised.

I said he isn’t the captain

I see what you are saying, shows the type of character he has. For the record, I wasn’t in the group of fans that was in favor of chasing him this off season. We got him and it is what it is, I know he won’t be the same player he was with the Steelers due to the fact that we don’t have an offensive line on their level. I just hope he helps Sams development.

My take is yours: he is what he is and pretty much everyone should know that at this point. Yet he's also been an extremely good player. I guess my concern would be that his style of waiting and picking out holes demands a pretty competent o-line. I don't know if the Jets have one at the moment. The Steelers do.

Besides, that argument is apples and oranges. He doesn't have a history of just not showing up...

Meh - I'm not looking at him to be a leader on this team. What I would like to hear is that he is getting together with Allen and company to work on developing some chemistry.

I get why some guys don't show up for voluntary workouts, they aren't being paid for them. They get their paychecks during the season and if they end up getting injured in voluntary workouts they end up potentially not getting those paychecks or missing out on part of their contract money.

Saying that, you could still show up and at least make an appearance. Especially if you are a new guy and signed a massive contract with more guaranteed money.

Report: NFL warns Tom Coughlin about voluntary workouts comment

Posted by Josh Alper on April 24, 2019, 1:33 PM EDT

Jaguars executive vice president of football operations Tom Coughlin has reportedly heard from the NFL about last week’s comments regarding players missing voluntary offseason workouts. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey and linebacker Telvin Smith have been absent and Coughlin said that they should be in attendance. That drew responses from Ramsey, Ramsey’s agent and the NFLPA.

Yeah they are not supposed to say anything about it. Only the media points out who isn’t there. Coughlin needs to retire.

  • 2 weeks later...

When it comes to voluntary workouts, New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell said on Monday that he knows what "works for me to be the best player I can be."

Bell took to social media to respond to a question about when he's going to attend practice after skipping some voluntary workouts: "When it's time to play football...l got to stick to the formula that I know works for me to be the best player I can be...l'm not just tryna win football games, I want a ring! I want to desperately show everybody what I can what I can REALLY do...I'll take the heat right now, everybody will forget about that once January comes around.

LOL

Well he knows what works for him to NOT win a ring, and he’s decided to continue to do that. Alrighty then.

Looks like he’s going to do the least he can team-wise so as to spare his body.   Let’s see if he really knows what works, seeing as how (prior to last year) he didn’t miss these type of things with the Steelers.

Spare his body?  He hasn't been in an NFL camp in over a year!!!

When was the last time he was on a field?     Jan of 2018?

OTA's aren't purely physical conditioning...it's mental/teamwork conditioning. Especially with a brand new team. Ya wanna be a leader Le'Veon? Hang out with your teammates and get to know them. What a dope.

You go to a new team, you should at least show up and try to make friends

That doesn’t seem to matter to him.   Otherwise he’d be there at team activities to at least build rapport.

I get that,  It is voluntary.  However you do want your teammates to get a feeling that you actually gave a s***

If it wasn't his first year with the NYETS it wouldn't be as much of an issue

I predict the Jets offensive line will suck, Bell will be ineffective and start throwing the line and organization under the bus by midseason. The Jets will be stuck with an unhappy, overpaid primadonna rb. Glad the Bills stayed away from him and Brown, too much ego.

I mean it is voluntary and won’t mean a thing if he produces this season.  But I won’t be thrilled if I was the Jets.  He seems like he is just about himself.  Still will put up numbers but he doesn’t have that winner mentality.  I don’t know why teams spend big resources on rbs now.

AND building team chemistry.

I have read here that chemistry and character are not required.  I agree with you that the team will perform better when in it together vs their own stats.

I am sure every person on the team would like to work out at home but they are there for the team.  Eventually they will say "me too" and stay home.
