Midterm Election Gameday Thread

That's just it I haven't been trained by anyone. Just observing. Trusting my own senses. For better or worse. Think for a moment, what you and I have been taught in school or see/hear in the media. It's all controlled by someone else other than you. You and I can easily be molded to have a certain viewpoint. Sure, to a certain extent you can control where you get the info from but what difference does that make? You have already been manipulated to think a certain way so you are predisposed to go to predetermined news outlets or websites. The thing is do you accept the manipulation or step back and be discerning? Objective. Free minded?

I know I certainly don't have all the answers but I now know not to trust ANYTHING unless it makes sense based on human nature or what I can see.

But it was just pure factual data I was posting, easily checked out, yet you refused to even look at it because it was WP.

People laugh when MK-Ultra is brought up, or Mockingbird. But they are very real programs that were "shuttered" in the 70s officially, while unofficially they changed names as the technology developed proved to be extremely effective.

We have been living in a controlled reality in this country all of our lives. It's been open control since 1963 when Kennedy was killed and the infestation which began with Paperclip metastasized. That controlled reality is being broken, dismantled, and power is being returned to the people. That's why the cognitive dissonance is off the charts and so painful for many. That's why the "the world is ending" rhetoric ratcheted up to 12 immediately after the election of '16.

Each and every one of us are both victims and combatants in this (dis)information war whether we realize it or not. Good news is, more and more people are waking up. The tide has turned, the numbers are growing and can't be stopped imo.

Paperclip is when they brought over Nazi scientists correct? They ended up being professors in a lot of universities if I remember all this correctly.

Of course, people laugh at this stuff because they have been trained (as Tib says) to trust the establishment academia and media and discount these things as "conspiracy theories" (A CIA created term?)

You understand why I wouldn't trust an organization that continually spins and pushes disinformation though right?

I sincerely hope that you, or even better,  one of your children, is falsely accused of sexual assault some day; and that your lives are destroyed as a result.

That your reputation is left in tatters, that people question whether you should be allowed to coach your kids sports teams, that you endure death threats, that you lose your job.

And you shouldn't be outraged at any of these accusations.  You should smilingly accept them, and thank those who are destroying you.

Because "the accuser should be believed".

You are an absolutely vile individual, un-American in every way.

@WhitewalkerInPhilly don't listen to projection from the quoted turd. You are 100% American and have the right to your opinion. The only person being vile is the one who is anonymously attacking your children hundreds of miles away from his keyboard in Rhode Island.

So the upper mid west is seriously in play for Dems if they nominate a moderate.

No *****.

All the Democrats have to do is nominate someone who recognizes "flyover country" exists to win in 2020.

So doubtless they'll nominate another dismissive coastal liberal.

One can only shake your head is amazement at the liberal media, and their lemmings coming up with the “popular house/Senate vote” over the past 4 days.

which doesn't exist and is an insult to the intelligence of anyone who knows that California has a top-two primary system.

I know, why don't they nominate a clueless orange coastal buffoon? Hey, has Trump ever fired a gun? I can't see it.

The election day dinners must have been to die for in those races.  A dying tradition by the way.  Anyways, what is it to stand around for 10-15 minutes to push a touch screen once the turkey and stuffing start sliding down into the stomach?  Maybe the Democrats are on to something?

You do know that Hillary is to the right of Richard Nixon especially before 2012-14?  She only slid to the left because of the "bad man" in the White House at the time did something he was not supposed to do which was put up resistance against her meaning running for office.

In addition to all of your other flaws, you apparently don't speak the English language very well.

What did I "project"?

Edit:  because I am helpful:  A sincerely professed hope is not a prediction, nor is it an image cast on a surface, nor is it a promotion of someone to be viewed in a narrowly defined way, nor is it a protrusion.

I didn't really see a question there from Jim, and he got OWNED. That's not a game you want to play with Trump.

I'm not someone who despises CNN, but this guy is dead weight.

Between this and his emotional plea to Sanders for "civility," I wish they'd cut him loose. At least Alexander asked him a question and didn't look like a fool.

Acosta might be a bigger narcissist than Trump.

I'm just saying times change and the courts have to change, too. The supreme Court's conservatives have continually handed liberals victories.

And none of us know what really makes voters turn out. Maybe its justices, maybe its just pure partisan competition. Obamacare was the boogieman but now its popular, for instance. People just want their side to win in many cases and don't even know why. Conservatives vote against their interests a lot.

I think it's fair to say at the very least that Supreme Court openings/prospective openings bring out conservative voters. There are many other factors but I believe it's been more than proven.

Your point about judges being unpredictable is true. There would have been many more conservative majorities in the SC if all the picks ended up being as conservative as was though when nominated/confirmed.

And Obamacare is only popular because Trump isn't. It's a pile of trash and that has not changed, but you know propoganda on both sides determines the narrative and the liberal propo on this one have made it a binary decision: Obamacare or the plan made up by the evil repubs that want to take everything away and let you die in the streets?

As far as conservatives voting against their interest, that point is taken, but with a different interpretation. I think it's more fundamentally what people want from gov't. Surely you remember JFK "ask not what your country can do for you, etc", and that really is where I stand. I don't vote for things/people because I want something or want to make my life easier. I vote for what I believe is in the long-term best interest of the country. I am a libertarian and differ with republicans on tons of issues (mostly social), and am far from a Trump stumper, but for the last few cycles it's about lesser of evils; and right now the biggest evil is the draw to a government dependent citizenship (in my opinion of course).

From experience, I hope he doesn't.  Because whether right or wrong, guilty to not, once time has served it's purpose and even done so much as achieve community success those same people will always begrudge you, never let you move on, and never change your life.

I hope it happens for his own elucidation.

He needs a severe lesson in the importance of the presumption of innocence, the right to confront your accuser, and the essential importance of corroboration.

Further, I hope this sort of thing happens to everyone who supports what was done to Justice Kavanaugh, Title IX in general, and preponderance of evidence standards.  It's the only way they'll learn.

She is Hillary, though. Not a regular politician. Dems nominating a fresh faced moderate would be very different.

And Hillary was whatever anyone called her at the moment not, far left, socialist, war monger, murderer, you name it

That's a tad extreme.  Maybe I would change the word from believed to heard.

To be fair I thought the BK extravaganza was a ***** show from all sides.

The way they handled that hearing was a joke.. bringing in that prosecutor then telling her to get lost before questioning BK.  And trying to get the vote through the very next day.. Then getting the FBI involved after that vote..

They had to bring the FBI into it or it was going to be a "no" vote from Flake. They had no purpose for the prosecutor once she was done with Ford.

Of course the accuser has the right to be heard, specifically by the person they are accusing, in order that they are able to meet the accusations and defend themselves if they choose to.  This is the basic principle that our entire system of jurisprudence is built upon.

It is also, I believe, a hallmark of general decency, to import those standards into our individual basic morality.  Individuals should not be condemned purely on the uncorroborated say-so of another individual, especially in situations where the accuser has something they deeply value to gain from doing nothing more than making the accusation.

They could have called for one themselves before Flake forced them to.  Why didn't they have her question BK?

Anyways back to the topic..

Is Pelosi going to be House speaker?  Her presser was awful.
