It's good for now, but it was growing steadily in the 7 years prior to Trump taking office, so calling this "the Trump economy" as though he created this is disingenuous. And projections are that the economy is slowing down. And this tax cut is breadcrumbs for the middle class and sandwiches for the wealthy. And it's adding SooOOooo much to the deficit, which as you know is something Republicans apparently care a lot about when Democrats are in office. And as far as feelings about those tax cuts: Does a 40% approval rating really jump out at you? I mean... that 40% is pretty ironic since it's pretty much where Trump's approval rating hovers, but if Independents are the determining factor in Trump getting reelected, 32% doesn't bode well. The economy got a shot in the arm last year with the Tax cuts... we have 18 1/2 months until the election. How confident are you it will get better or at least stay the same? And as for the folks bringing up all the stuff about skeletons in Biden's closet coming out... well... Trump still got elected, so likely will Biden if he winds up being the nominee. Another big mistake on Trump's part, I believe, was renewing his pledge to repeal the Affordable Care Act... though now he says they will put that off til after the election, which will make many of those who were "on the fence" vote against him considering he just wants it gone (Dude has serious Presidential Envy going on) with no plan to replace it with anything. Hell, even Fox friggin News had a poll in the last year that showed it had a 51% approval among Americans and this guy says to axe it without even a replacement plan? The guy's an idiot and just needs to go. While Trump may very well be an idiot, he’ll have a few things going for him. The economy ( whomever’s you choose to call it) will probably be the same to slightly improving. The Dems will nominate a radical, far left candidate out of touch with American ideals and with reality in general. This will bolster Trumps support from independents. If 51% of Americans “ approve” of the ACA, it’s likely that most don’t understand how bad and expensive it actually is for what it claims to accomplish. Because college loans are so easy to get way too many kids (yes, kids) go to college when many of them should be getting an apprenticeship or whatever. They leave school, whether graduating or not and many still don't have any prospects. They owe a ton of money and have no real way of paying it back. Because loans were so available colleges took advantage and became more expensive and bloated.

I understand she has to break through in the polls, but this is an ill-conceived proposal. It helps candidates like Buttigieg and Harris. I'm fortunate enough to be completely done with student loans, and yeah, forgiveness would be a bit of a slap in the face. It's also a major issue that was forced on a lot of these people by the previous generation. Go to college or you'll be a failure, etc. I don't think the debt should be erased, that's just way too much. But I do think it would help everyone tremendously if the interest on the loans was capped, or frozen altogether. I don't know if it would work or not, but a lot of people my age are voting for socialists and looking for handouts because of the financial position they have been put in by the lies, predatory loans, and economy they were given. Throughout the recession people were graduating with high five figure to six figure debt (from a school they were told they had to go to in order to be successful), not getting jobs in their field, looking at an upside-down housing market with very little opportunity, and the interest the student loans were gaining was higher than what they could pay down in a month. Then they get blamed for moving back in with their parents. I do think capping or freezing the interest on these loans would actually impact the voting positions of a good portion of America. jmo. 1
