By my count, he attempted to 21 passes and only three hit the ground. Some were of the shorter variety, but Allen was ripping some deeper throws as well. He hit Austin Proehl on an impressive throw to the sideline outside the numbers. His two touchdowns were the highlights, though. Allen ripped an in-breaking route over a defender and into the hands of fellow rookie Ray-Ray McCloud for a touchdown. Later in practice, he hit Travaris Cadet in the end zone for a back-shoulder touchdown. If the idea of putting him with the third team was to build his confidence. it might be working. I remember the press conference after EJ threw that game winning pass against the Panthers, I think, at the beginning of his rookie year. Marrone was asked if EJ had arrived and he basically broke out into laughter. I don't think Marrone ever wanted to play EJ, and he was at odds with Whaley over it. They never miss the wide open WR, never fumble, never throw a pick, etc. Actually playing often exposes them for what they are, and why they are the backup. I pray Allen can make those “controlled running game” passes to move the chains. A nice long ball is great, but this isn’t the Raiders of the AFL anymore. I pray Allen can make those “controlled running game” passes to move the chains. A nice long ball is great, but this isn’t the Raiders of the AFL anymore. That Brady guy does ok with a lot of short passes... All I can say is Allens old OC never had the "it" factor when it came to calling plays. There was no rythem or fluidity to his offense. It was always herky jerky. He never tried to get Allen into a rythem passing. Never managed to get his offense into a rythem where the other team didn't know what was coming at them. Or made the defense sit back on their heals undecided on how to defend a qb who had all this talent. It was almost like he was standing behind the offense while they were lined up telling the defense what play they were going to run next. Imagine one of the worst OC's the Bills ever had and times it by 2. How that offense won 3 national championships at North Dakota State with him calling the plays amazes me to this day. So when you watch what Allen had to persevere while he was qb at Wyoming, it is astonishing what he and Wentz accomplished despite Vigen and his horrible play calling. I was used to the Paul Roach and Joe Tiller eras at Wyoming. Providing wide open offenses and zero predictability other than high scoring games. Tiller went on and brought the West Coast offense to the Big Ten and Purdue. Giving Brees his shot at the NFL. A predominantly run first conference. Bohl is building a great base at Wyoming, but it would go a lot faster there if Vigen was not a part of it. So please understand that if Allen were under an offense like Texas Tech, or Oklahoma, his numbers would be crazy. It takes a lot for me to get up for a football game knowing Vigen will be calling the plays. Bohl is a loyal guy and keeps him. I understand loyalty. But how Vigen got to coach Wentz and Allen is mystifying. Probably the only reason he is still coaching. In our bowl game against Central Michigan, Allen had thrown for three touchdowns in the 1st quarter. So what did Vigen do after that? He went back to his usual and ran on 1st and 2nd down every series. Sometimes 3rd down depending on where the ball was. In Allens last game with Wyoming , Vigen smothered Allen one last time and didn't let him air it out. Made him hand it off even though it was a blowout. And some of you guys wonder why Allens numbers were what they were. You had to live it to believe it. I hate Vigen with a passion. If a good qb wanted to go to Wyoming to play to showcase his talents to the the NFL, I would tell them to take a pass. As much as it hurts me to say that. I love Bohl as the HC at Wyoming. He is a good man and learned under Tom Osborne at Nebraska as a player and coach. His defense is being lauded by some to be a top 10 defense this year. So Wyoming should be in most games this year just because of that. Wyoming defense might have 4 to 5 drafted players next year, they are that good and deep. The only question marks are at defensive backs. You never know about them until they are under fire. Edited May 29, 2018 by BB@Shooter

Mat68
The open practices are going to be the most clear. I would say easily half of the media members that follow the Bills were against his selection. They want to prove their own intellegence. So far no peep. Even some forced praise. Allens strengths are apparent and easy to see. His accuracy knock are not as severe as they were protrayed to be. I think Allen starts week 1. And preseason game 1 he is announced as the starter.
