NFL Execs say Bills should get moving on new stadium

Recommended Posts

Look, we have a perfectly fine stadium. I agree, one day, it will probably make sense for Buffalo to build a stadium downtown. But it will make sense for BUFFALO, not the goddamn NFL. I am so sick of these mind numbingly rich bastards holding cities hostage for huge sums of tax payer dollars to finance their pet projects. Make no mistake, these owners are the same guys who allowed Stan Kroenke to screw over this city of St. Louis and their loyal fans and move a team to L.A. We were supposed to be the Rams the last damn 20 years, I think us Bills fans have a good understanding of what the NFL really stands for.

How much money does the NFL need to make before its enough? Its a joke to hear about INCOME INEQUALITY among the 32 NFL teams, its like a minature model of ACTUAL AMERICA "mmmm ahhh yes we have 5 teams that are worth several billion dollars but unfortunately our bottom teams are only worth almost a billion dollars....we need the fans to pony up for PSL's and box seats, $15 beers $300 jerseys

get the ***** out of here. This leagues greed will be its ultimate demise. They are alienating the average fan.

Sure they are and that explains why the game has never been more popular with increasing revenues and year long interest.

The current lease runs until 2022, It will be interesting to see what football participation numbers look like by then. High School numbers are down almost 3% nationwide and Pop Warner was down more than that. Fewer kids getting into the feeder system now will lead to fewer kids playing in high school etc.

I love watching football. I have 9 and 6 year old boys who also like watching football. They will not be permitted to play football.

Well, genius. Be prepared to open your checkbook often.

not more often...just a larger amount

Who's going to pay for it? Buffalo is a poor city.

County, state and the NFL will contribute...along with the Pegulas

Good rant, but didn't Kroenke turn down the taxpayer money in STL (rather than hold them hostage) to spend his own money to build in LA?

Go watch the Bills on the road and you will find it hard to argue the Ralph is not one of the three worst. Is the fan support top ten or even top 5 yes it is. Is the market better than Green Bay? Is it a joke Miami and Jax can not sell out their home openers? Yes this is all true. But it doesn't change the fact that the Ralph is old and not fan friendly in any way. Bathrooms, concourses, food, and beverage options are all awful. Fan behavior is terrible. Better than a couple years ago yes- but not close to the newer stadiums.

Build a dome and cut the seats to 62,000. Raise the ticket price 30% and then it will be fan and corporate friendly. The drunken mobs will not be able to afford it and the families with money to spend will sign up in droves.

This is exactly correct.

The city is changing along with demographics and the WNY economy. No one knows what a PSL structure will look like, but change is inevitable.

Wrong. Stop reading the boosterism on the Buffalo News and other media outlets and do some data collection on your own. There is no drastically significant increase in any relevant data variables and when compared to national trends, we still rank near the bottom third in many critical metrics. Still a top 5 poverty city. We haven't even returned to predecession job numbers and many new jobs created are low level retail and back office services. That's not a resurgence, revival, or renewal no matter what anyone says. But it's your right to believe the rhetoric and feel good stories and ignore reality.

Problem here is everyone sees a few tower cranes and billions in corporate welfare and they suddenly think decades of decline are over. Sorry, not the case.

No guarantee of huge PSL fees.

And id be curious to hear from someone like Kirby about the market stats and if there's a feeling that you can up cycle from cheap college fans and lowers middle class to an upper middle class (mid 40s, management title) kind of crowd at a higher price point if you pair a solid team with a more comfortable game day experience.

I'd have to think there are a lot of fans that don't buy because of the threat of rain, or cold (or sitting next to the table breaking, light people on fire crowd).

What the size and price point is of that other market though - most of us are throwing darts blindfolded. Obviously there's some feeling that it's possible though.

And I know the major issue is suites but the average ticket price point effects more of us here. I know reading some of our game day experience threads that there's at least some sizable portion that doesn't want the $30 ticket in 40 degree weather and rain but would jump on the $60 ticket to see players at max ability to shine while enjoying 72 and "sunny" in December.

The Bills have an issue with the fanbase graying.

The Super Bowl era kids were the first Bills fanbase that was not completely built on the idea of cheap tickets and cheap partying and they are why the stands have been full thru most of this nearly two decades of losing.

But those folks are getting older and leaving that age range where they will spend whatever it takes and entering an age where they are going to be saving money for their kids college and retirement and such.

The next gen that could start to make an impact in 6-7 years could give a sh*t about the Bills. They are a pretty irrelevant franchise.

They gotta' change that to make a new stadium experience work all the way around.........but they gotta' get a new stadium fairly soon that will lure corporate dollars.

Why would a new stadium lure corporate dollars when the old one wouldn't? Suites are suites. You get the best service, amenities and food no matter what the stadium is like. No, building a new stadium just jacks up prices for the average fan making it even harder for the average fan to attend games.

Aesthetics.

Why don't billionaires build mansions in middle class city neighborhoods?..........they are INSIDE most of the time, right?

It's entertainment and the old stadium is a relative dump in the suburbs.

The NFL doesn't want the average fans in their stadiums anymore.

In the new reality that is the NFL the Bills need a new stadium. If Buffalo can't or won't build one then maybe Buffalo doesn't belong in the NFL anymore.

Know how I know you aren't the target of those suites?

DROVES I tell you DROVES So tickets will be $150 x4 plus $50 parking food and drink and souvenirs add another $150-200 = $800 plus x 10 games Don't see it
