  1. He could also see a dip in his numbers due to Allen & the system here, just as Curtis Samuel did (worst season in his career) or Amari Cooper (barely averaged 2 receptions a game). I think our system is more centered around running the ball now, which is reflected in the passing & receiving numbers being down so much (especially Josh's). Which is all the more reason I feel Cook should've been one of the first people paid, as he was our best weapon & the person to take the most pressure off of Josh.
  2. He’s not going to take away your free money from SSDI. You’ll still be able to mooch off the system like you’ve always done.
  3. I’d rather trade for Garrett. Better find in McDs system
  4. This is such a complicated topic. To me it seems to be a failure of parenting, education system and society. American society glamorizes athletes and entertainers but ignores or belittles academic achievement. Glitz and glam sells so that is what our culture is about. Parents and kids are brainwashed by Tiktok, etc. Tech companies impose their algorithms on us, shaping our society, with no regulation by the government. People now have the attention span of a flea. If information can’t be presented in 10 seconds, brains shut down. We need public service announcements on parenting like the no smoking campaign of old.
  5. Incorrect as usual. I love the scrutiny government organizations and systems are under and will judge the results at the appropriate time. I will leave the premature overreactions to others.
  6. How anyone can take this old racist hag seriously baffles me. She is insufferable
  7. Belichick didn't bring guys back? That's a wild take. Patrick Chung, Jamie Collins, Trey Flowers, Trent Brown, LaGarrette Blount.... and that is literally off the top of my head. Nobody let guys go then brought them back when they failed in other systems more than Bill.
  8. Where's the fabrication? " The report found that Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey harassed Martin, another offensive lineman and a member of the training staff. It described "sexually explicit remarks" about members of his family and said that "at times [Martin was] ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments." "His teammates called him names and said racist things to his face. They made misogynistic comments. On the spectrum of behavior in football locker rooms, it was extreme, he said." "He said most people, especially those who didn't play the game, might think what happened to him was bullying. But men who sweat and grunt and bang heads for a living often act a certain way when they are around each other." "I should have stood up to it more," he said. "I should have been like, 'Look, this is wrong.'" All he's saying now is that he wished he had handled it differently. Incognito did these things. The article doesn't exonerate him in any way.
  9. Hamlin isn’t very good. He knows the system though and is okay depth. If they brought him back to be the 4th or 5th safety, I’m fine with it. I hope that the guy from Washington passes him and they NEED Bishop to not be bad again. They used a 2nd round pick on him. They passed on some guys that are already ahead of him at the position.
  10. All this judicial malpractice is the result of the Democrats being furious and angry that they are no longer in command. And having more or less no other outlet to obstruct the administrations actions to dismantle their system of control, short of employing street violence. The aim is to goad Trump into doing something "authoritarian" to prove their constant assertions that his objective is some dictatorial regime. Its not like its some big top secret. Its obvious. So far he refuses to take the bait. At some point the SCOTUS is going to have to crap or get off the pot and rule on this judicial activism.
  11. Low hanging fruit or the shiny object if you will. You just need good ones that play well in your system and stay healthy.
  12. I was set to retire in June 2020 from OCM BOCES which supplies and supports the computer systems used by 52 school districts around Syracuse and Central NY. When the shutdown hit we had to schedule a time to come into the office and collect our computers so we could start working from home. The systems had to be modified to support remote learning, and thousands of iPads had to be sent out to schools to distribute to students. We quickly learned what a Zoom meeting was. Since I was home and had nowhere to go anyways, I delayed my retirement until 2021 when we were back in the office.
  13. I mean we did draft Ulofoshio last year. Another 5th rounder...more athletic than Paul. Takes 1 season plus as a LB in our system to "play fast", not think and naturally be in position. Took Bernard, Dorian, etc. So Bernard, Milano, Dorian, Ulofoshio, Joe Andreesen. I disagree with Eddie O, which is really Eddie U 😄. I don't see Paul stepping into that LB4 role better than Ulofoshio this year. Not concerned about LB depth right now
  14. Good - chiefs have to roster a few players just for the system.
  15. I don’t like locking up another B player in a critical position. MLB can be a monster in this system. He’s good, the value is good, but this is now the ceiling at MLB and I think B players being the ceiling are the heart of this teams issues.
  16. That's a point I've been trying to make around here for a couple of years now. My own opinion is that the Bills have had so much success in the last 5 years that it's hard for me to argue that their philosophy about how to build a team is wrong. That's not to say that there is no room for argument, because there certainly is. For example, I have said for a long time the same thing several other people say, namely, the bills need a difference maker on the defensive side of the ball and Beane's only attempt to get one, Miller, didn't work out. But with respect to running back, I think it's quite clear that the Bills philosophy is that it is not wise to spend big dollars for a difference maker at that position. And that was my point in this thread - it isn't enough to say that Cook is worth x million dollars. He may be worth that in the market, but within the Bills system he is not.
  17. Well, not really. He's a rather bright guy. The rest of the story from 5 years ago (You guys really dig for this marginal stories. He's not a threat. He had to be persuaded to run again). “The first African Americans sent into the English colonies came to Point Comfort in 1619. They were slaves, they had been captured against their will, but they landed in colonies that didn’t have slavery — there were no laws about slavery in the colonies at that time,” Kaine explained. “The United States didn’t inherit slavery from anybody. We created it. It got created by the Virginia General Assembly and the legislatures of other states. It got created by the court systems in colonial America that enforced fugitive slave laws.” In a statement to National Review, Kaine attempted to clarify his remarks — which were much longer than the prepared speech released by his office. “There was no law mandating slavery on our shores when African slaves came ashore in 1619. Did slavery already exist in the world? Of course. But not in the laws of colonial America at the time,” Kaine explained. “We could have been a nation completely without the institution. But colonial legislatures and courts, and eventually the U.S. legal system, created the institution on our shores and maintained slavery until the 13th Amendment. As I said, we didn’t inherit it. We chose to create it.”
  18. The punch card reference was merely an example of outdated technology. Whether these government systems rely on that or not, its a given they have a lot of outdated technology and processes. The core of Social Security is member/customer information and payment processes. There are lots of current technologies that support those functions. Right off the shelf with possibility some configuration or custom code for specific use cases. And while transforming an organizations business process and supporting technologies can be difficult, and costly, it is necessary at times and can result in the gain of efficiency, cost reduction, and an increase in maintainability. I see it more of a replacement than a re-write. The other thing to keep in mind is the technical staff. While these COBOL systems still function you're not going to find many IT professionals, with the exception of some older workers, that are eager to spend their lives working with outdated technologies. Younger workers want to work on current technologies and cutting edge stuff. I don't blame them. My company had a program about 2014-2015 where they hired around 200 college grads for practical training to do all sorts of systems work. It was mostly successful. But the grads assigned to COBOL and other outdated work quit and went elsewhere for fresh opportunities as soon as their bonus retention restrictions expired.
  19. Tsk tsk. One would think young people would know better and as soon as you think that you find racists and unhinged young progressives cheering for murder. Sad situation.
  20. I really hope there is some clarity to this. Big colleges that rely on football for money have been jumping on the heads of victims for 100 years. The local police and politicians have all helped them squash these types of things forever also. Sadly this is what that screams to me. They just made it go away and because he wasn't 18 yet they just blew it off systemically somehow under the he will grow up mantra or something. Either way I hate it and there were lots of players available and they could have avoided this.
  21. Levi summed it up just right. The only election in my lifetime that I did not vote was 2016. The choices were too awful. After watching how democrats and their media brethren behaved 2016-2020 (impeachment clown shows, collusion mania, Pelosi tearing up SOTU, covid hypocrisy, checking off on mostly peaceful riots, etc) I ran to vote for Trump and not because I suddenly liked him. I voted for him over Kamala because of the continued nonsense from democrats. The “don’t say gay” lies. Being called a bigoted homophobe because I don’t believe third grade students should have access to library books about anal. Called a racist/fascist/nazi for wanting existing border laws enforced. The absurdity of “he’s mentally fit for the presidency” trumpeted here and in the media. All the issues being described as 80/20 are exactly that and dems are on the wrong side of them all. There’s nothing to like about them. Therefore, Trump.
  22. "Fiscally conservative, socially liberal." Depends how you ask the question. One take from a group that fits the description: https://www.adamsmith.org/blog/politics-government/fiscally-conservative-socially-liberal The problem is with how political coalitions form in our two-party/first past the post/federalist system. I live in what is now a deep blue state. The percentage supporting socially conservative views is maybe 30%. The liberal legislature keeps trying to undo a 1990s thing called the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, which basically requires a ballot measure to increase taxes. We've had a few of those. They all fail. People don't want higher taxes and higher spending either. So this kind of works in a state with high median levels of education, no particularly strong ethnic voting blocs, etc. I can't see it working in New York or Arkansas. The best Musk can do is to fulfill the Perot role, by dragging Dems and their candidates toward the center.
  23. Roundy has echoed this nonsense multiple times... "They just want to be able to say the n-word/nazi rhetoric/racist crap in public..." Newsflash RoundyMao, but you can already say any of those things freely and loudly in public to your hearts content.
  24. Ryan Clark doing PR trying to save his credibility being a race baiter
  25. If you don't re-sign Morris or Gilliam, you'll be signing others just like them for about the same money, so you might as well bring them back since they are already effective in what they do in this system. And they play special teams as well.
