I know I’m in the minority, but yep! We work very well together and he’s a great guy on top of that. Only been in this current job for a year and a half and for previous 17 this was not always the case, so very much enjoying it!

I'm a PITA so any boss that leaves me alone for the most part is a good boss. My current boss leaves me alone for the most part as long as the housekeeping stuff is in order (paperwork, documentation, the like). He was perceptive enough to know that I only pretend to be type B but I'm actually highly type A and bristle at any hint of micromanagement.

My current boss is freaking brilliant and is very intense - that said, she's alright. This is especially true in light if some of the complete a-holes I've had as bosses in the past.

 

Side note: i HATE when leaders talk about work being a family! it is nothing of the sort.  You are a chess piece, and as soon as someone figures out out to stuff their pockets by making you disappear, that is exactly what will happen.

Think I did the math in another post, unless I'm mistaken (definitely a possibility) you're either pushing 70 or it's in the rear-view mirror. Retire already. I highly recommend it!

My supervisor changes every few months. I always tell them when first meet I hate being micromanaged and usually leads to good things. My current sup gets it and when we have to meet we look over my numbers and he says "I'll write up the report and you know what needs to be done and we leave it at that". In our last team meeting we even talked about good sushi places to waste some of the time.

I'm 57...... i started when i was 18, so that's about 39 years in this racket.

 

I actually tried to retire when i was 52 but can't get access to my union pension until i'm 60, so i've got another 3 years to go, however, 3 years seems like a long, long time when dealing with idiots at work.

Being an educator, I guess my boss is technically the superintendent but I never really see or talk to him.  My immediate supervisor, the one who I answer to and evaluates my performance, is my department director.  
 

Honestly, I don’t like her or dislike her.  She’s an idiot but leaves me alone as long as I do my job.  She’s also missing a finger which is very distracting bc I can help but look at it when she’s around.  
 

A couple years ago the day before Thanksgiving break she popped into my office to wish me a happy turkey day.  She proceeded to tell me that while she was taking her turkey out of the freezer to thaw, she found her cat in there that had “disappeared” years ago.  😂

Does not listen to people and will frequently turn his attention elsewhere during a conversation.  Leaves early stating he’s going to another site..have called him 10 minutes later and you can hear his kids in the background.  Work at an off site location and his bosses have no clue how bad he is.

My boss used to scare the b-jesus out of me the first few years I dealt with her.  Enough that I started threads even here about her and even PM's some members as well.

 

As the years went by I got to know her better and what to expect kind of thing and how to brace for her.  Pretty good relationship today.

 

 

That being said it's your boss.  Not your friend or family at the end of the day.  Except for @Draconator  😀
