He was a Rams cast off that was slow, but Beane loves those guys

Psst.  Pass it on...Beane does his grocery shopping at ALDI.  Dented cans aisle.

I for one will miss his hesitancy, poor angles, missed tackles, and 4.7 speed in the secondary.

He ran 4.76 and 4.78 at his pro day and the combine, probably closer to 4.9 present day.

Hate to see any player injured. Wish him a smooth recovery. But on the field, I really believe this is addition by subtraction. Maybe this gets Beane off his hands to go after Simmons or another vet.

Really wish Shaq was playing. Potential big loss there even with Milano and Bernard possibly back this week.

Saves McDermott from himself if we're being honest

yes it does - listening to clappy talk about T Rapp like he was a combination of Ronnie Lott and John Lynch, you knew clappy wanted so badly to see him back on the field knowing what his coverage resp is but blowing it anyway.  This is not bad news.

We've seen the last of Taylor Rapp IMO.  Saves us $3.3m off 2026 cap to cut him next offseason.  Easy choice.

Beane has a lot of easy choices next year:

1. Cut Rapp=$3.3m savings

2. Cut Samuel = $6.3m savings

3. Cut Knox (or he cut's his salary in half)= cut $9.5m savings

4. Re-do contracts for our top 4 Cap Hit guys: Josh, Ed, Dion, Spencer --- significant savings, continue to kick the can

5. Extend/new deal: McGovern

6. New deal: Torrence

Harder choices / see how these guys perform rest of season:

1. Taron: cut = $3.3m savings (as of now he looks like we should be replacing him)

2. Potentially: Bass; cut = $2.9m savings --- then draft a kicker

Focus areas:

1. WR

2. DE

3. S

4. Nickle corner

@GunnerBill I know you love Ed and I don't blame you. But he has missed 8 games over the last 3 years and will miss at least 14 games this year.

This is the first serious injury he has had. That's just bum luck. Has he had some issued being nicked up, sure. But I don't believe he is injury prone. He is also when on the best player on this defense by far. When we are lacking talent I don't think trading that away is smart.

Scary slow. The only way he can get away with playing safety at that speed is to be extremely instinctual, very well studied, and a master of angles to the ball carrier. Last year he took great angles, this year has been a completely different story.

2024 Rapp would be a big loss

2025 Rapp, this is the best possible thing

Hopefully whatever was wrong with his knee contributed to the decline and he'll be back to 2024 version next year ... in a depth role.

2024 rapp actually was a big loss haha he didn’t play against the chiefs in the playoffs.  Gets overshadowed by benford going down crazy early

That's a Rapp... probably for the best... addition by subtraction... who is going to head shot our players now?... where will our 3rd and long unnecessary roughness penalties come from...

I was just thinking of better titles for this thread

I feel like he’s gotten much better about keeping his head up and hitting mostly the opponents. That used to be a serious issue, but it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be. At least, that’s the way it seems to me. But once you get “the Rapp”, it tends to stick.

Would it change your mind if we got a draft pick in return and saved $15M off our cap?

4.76 would of been the second slowest LB at this years combine.
