The guy threw 41 TDs last year and you don't think he did that throwing into some tight windows? This is like when people still call Allen reckless with the football. We have to adjust our perspective when players improve. Lamar is pretty clearly the 2nd best QB in the NFL right now IMO. But it turns out the Ravens weren't the super team that everyone thought. Their OL has problems in pass protection, Starks is making rookie mistakes, their front 4 just isn't talented enough, their CB2 is still a big question mark. I think their coaching has a lot to answer for as well. As much as I think the man doesn't deserve 2 MVPs and I am utterly sick of Lamar Truthers screaming about how Josh robbed him, I agree that Lamar is at this moment probably neck and neck with Allen in the regular season QB play. He's good and we don't have to tell ourselves that he's bad to feel better about Josh. To the Ravens credit, they have had a murderers row stretch to open. The opener was a heartbreaker, the Browns are not the complete pushover, the Lions were always going to be a tough ride and now the Chiefs? But yes, the idea that "the only ones who can beat the Ravens are the Ravens" is looking a bit tired at the moment. I've seen enough sample size to say that they have issues closing out games. 1 Quote
Livinginthepast Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Lions did a great job last night on both sides of the ball. Defense made Lamar look like a stupid rookie. Offense looked like they hadnt skipped a beat since Johnson left. That pitch out on the TD is the type of play that I wish we would run once in a while. Also great to see the Ravens crumble not only because it helps us but because it proves once again how bogus the Ravens hype was before the season. So many NFL pundits are completely clueless and a lot just tow the hype line. They look like fools today. 1 3 Quote

Raise the bar 6 feet and have a cross bar on top making it a rectangle. Ball needs to go through. Kickers are so powerful now. These situations are more common, and the nfl is whistling past the graveyard until something major gets decided by this. 1 1 1 Quote

Gregg Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Very impressed with the Lions last night. Those two long drives for scores and the goal line stand. The Lions will be there in the end with GB and Philly to see who represents the NFC in the Super Bowl. 1 Quote

On the Ravens front 4 - they were down their best player on that line in Madubuike - but you are right they just don't feel that talented up there compared to some of their past teams - particularly off the edge. Oweh has never been anything more than a situational rusher and their starters are mid round draft picks. I made the comment in my observations about their depth. And that's a real concern right across the board on defense. It's what we need to remember when we talk about the different way rosters are built. A team like the Bills doesn't have a Kyle Hamilton or a Roquan Smith - but our depth has already been tested and shown up in some spots. Down Madukuike and Van Noy the Ravens D looked underpowered. The secondary did at least step up a bit as the game went on, but they just couldn't stop the run at all and the Lions imposed their will on the ground. This is the third season running the Ravens defense has started slow. The last two years they have rounded into form post Thanksgiving. It remains to be seem if they do this time. Offensive line wise, I think they will be fine and that was just a rough night. Their guards are a bit questionable but Stanley and Rosengarten are usually solid and they were dreadful last night. So I'm willing to put that down to a bad day and move on, but bears watching. 1 Quote

Unlike the Bills, the Lions did an amazing job of keeping in lanes. Tackling was better. He missed some throws but stats were impressive. He’s not their biggest problem by any stretch. But collectively they are finding a way to lose close games against top teams. They get another chance vs Chiefs this week…. Quote

Charles Romes Posted September 23 Posted September 23 It was great to watch Lamar descend further into stat-hound mode, eating the ball play after play with the game on the line rather than god forbid risking a pick. Hope the media will call it out for what it is. 2 Quote
Billsfanatic8989 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) Hard to believe that a SB contender will be 1-3 (Doubt it ends in a tie) after next week. I never would have predicted that. Edited September 23 by Billsfanatic8989 Quote

I cared until he won it last year, now that he’s accomplished that I’m focused on the 1 seed and a SB appearance. SB Win 2 1 Quote

They lost both of their coordinators and had a hiccup in week 1 but they look like the same Lions to me. Dan Campbell is a great coach and I'm already looking forward to the Lions-Packers rematch. 1 Quote

She crunches the fantasy projects and Vegas plays on that network and apparently there's a reason for it, she seems more of a sharp than I gave credit for. 3 Quote

billsfan89 Posted September 23 Posted September 23 Shout out to St. Brown for winning me my fantasy week! What a heck of a game. Ravens with a tough loss. I wonder if the Ravens will look to try to make an offensive line addition by the trade deadline? Quote

Low Positive Posted September 23 Posted September 23 (edited) I'm looking at the all-22 for the 4th quarter sacks. The reason I'm doing this is that the Lions will get credit for 7 sacks, but almost all of them came pretty long after the snap. I am interested in if this was good coverage or was it something else. From what I can tell, the Lions went against their tendencies and started mixing in some zone. In the play I'm looking at, I would even ID it as some form of cover two zone in Madden (two high safeties, CB's off the line, and no one went with the man in motion). But the Ravens ran a play that seems to be designed to be a man beater. The screenshot that I attached is a little over a second before Hutchinson sacks Lamar. Look at all that space in the zone! If Tez Walker stops and turns around, that's an easy first. But he doesn't because the play called for deep crossing routes. It seems to me that the wrong play was called against the defense, and even I could have IDed that defense as a zone pre-snap. Jackson needed to change the play at the line. Edit: I looked at it again. They had DJ Reed in man coverage on Zay Flowers on the top of the screen, but they were in a zone everywhere else. And looking at it from the EZ cam, he was staring down Flowers the whole play. Never even looked at the middle of the field. Edited September 23 by Low Positive 2 Quote
