Or at least take their jerseys off when leaving.

Eh, my son lives in the DMV and was at a bar for our game and he did the Zay Flowers Queen of England wave at their fans when we won … and he managed to get home okay.

I probably wouldn’t have advised that… but I’m proud.

That just isn't true anymore. The guy threw 41 TDs last year and you don't think he did that throwing into some tight windows? This is like when people still call Allen reckless with the football. We have to adjust our perspective when players improve.

Lamar is pretty clearly the 2nd best QB in the NFL right now IMO. But it turns out the Ravens weren't the super team that everyone thought. Their OL has problems in pass protection, Starks is making rookie mistakes, their front 4 just isn't talented enough, their CB2 is still a big question mark. I think their coaching has a lot to answer for as well.

I think the Lamar fatigue is more of a Ravens thing than a Lamar thing.

It feels like we've been hearing for years how great the Ravens are at team building. The narrative has been "they can only beat themselves" for awhile now. I get super sick of that. As if other teams play no role in the Ravens turning the ball over or Lamar making a ridiculous 4th and goal play where he loses 20 yards.

Watch... there's still going to be a narrative out there among a significant chunk of people that the Ravens are the best team in football if they can just stop shooting themselves in the foot. One big talking point is going to be their decision NOT to go for it on 4th down countered by Detroit's 4th down decisions. Ignored will be the way Detroit handled Baltimore at the goal line on 4 downs.

Lamar just gets that extra angst since he's the QB of that team.

I know Decosta looks like a psychopath but is he usually hot stalking his player’s sideline in a demoralizing, heartbreaking loss? He looked like he was gonna cut a guy before the final whistle.

The locked on Ravens kid just spent 10 minutes in his opening segment claiming that none of this was Lamar’s fault. Yikes.

Well, he’s the qb. The ultimate responsibility for scoring falls on him, fair or not. The 4th down play was a disaster. Unlike the Bills, the Lions did an amazing job of keeping in lanes. Tackling was better. He missed some throws but stats were impressive. He’s not their biggest problem by any stretch. But collectively they are finding a way to lose close games against top teams.

If the Bills get the 1 seed and Allen does what he’s done for several years now(40+TDs, big performances against top teams) and keeps the turnovers to single digits, then Allen will win his 2nd MVP.

 I cared until he won it last year, now that he’s accomplished that I’m focused on the 1 seed and a SB appearance.

There's tons of buzz for Justin Herbert for MVP.

As I mentioned elsewhere, in Sunday's win over Denver, analyst Trent Green said he considers Herbert to be the best QB in the NFL.

I was shocked and outraged but Green's not the only want who's gravitating towards the new, shiny object with his hot takes.

Now That was a very good football game.

The Lions D put on a Clinic for the importance of Mind Your Gap and how to tackle, and it won for them in the end.

True but their D was more than just assignment sound.

Justin Herbert for league MVP?  He has to show more work. Way too early for that noise for these media talking heads. Herbert hasn't rushed for TDs. He hasn't lead comebacks against great teams.

Lamar Jackson is NOT a 4th qtr QB!!,

And I love it. He plays a great 1st half....moving and making plays. Game on the line, he stands and tries to make plays down the field.

Yet, he'll be the MVP again

Yes he is, they just have to be up multiple scores

Tuesday morning reflections....

- There was a ton of bad football in the NFL this week even from some of its stronger teams. Not this game. This was an excellent contest between two talented teams;

- The Lions demise was definitely prematurely stated after week 1. Even I dropped them from my tier of potential Superbowl winners. I shouldn't have. This team still has enough talent to go all the way;

- Kelvin Sheppard (not someone I immediately had down as future NFL DC when he was a 3rd round pick of the Bills in 2011) and his defense won the battle up front. Limited Henry and then when the Ravens were forced to pass swarmed Jackson;

- Meanwhile the Ravens defense missing Madubuike and Van Noy really never got hold of the Lions run game and you do wonder a little bit about their depth on that side of the ball;

- All of a sudden Derrick Henry is a fumbler! 3 fumbles in the entire season last year, three in 3 games this year... but the Ravens also need to find a way to get Zay Flowers more involved in the game. While Rashod Bateman is a good player as a defensive coach I am happy with him having 6 receptions if it means Zay Flowers is 2 for 13 yards - he is their game breaker.

Both of these teams are still potential Superbowl champions. Even if they both have yet to prove it in the post season.

Time to invest in FG tech if you ask me.

....or just raise the bar 6'.....that would've been a doink miss.

I don't know what VAR is but I always thought the solution was to shoot strong lasers up from the uprights when the ball is in the air. The lasers would be located such that if any part of the ball is illuminated, the kick is no good.

Unsportsmanlike on ESPN2 is so much trash…always. From get go this morning it is a Baltimore ravens post mortem.

And then pivoting to the “regular season doesn’t count.” Chris Canty being a shill of course as a former raven is expected.  However, all three of them are on the take and on the verge of tears after last night.

15 minutes in and I’m waiting for any praise or comments on how well the Lions played. Just a basic “lions to their credit,” and that was it before the commercial break.

The Ravens are the future of the NFL.

…and they always will be. 😏

The morning after

1. Watching the Ravens lose brings me joy.

2. Detroit is such a fun team to watch.  The creativity.  The "big onions"

3.  All I could say after that 4th down throw was "wow"

4. The world deserves a Buffalo vs Detroit Superbowl

5. Lamar with some stat padding there at the end to keep the MVP hopes alive.

6. I said it after the Bills-Ravens game and I'll say it again.  Baltimore scores too fast.  They make these huge splash plays on Offense and score quickly, but their Defense is left on the field all night.  They wear down.

7. Detroit had THE perfect game plan against the Ravens last night.

8. 7 sacks of LJ8.  He will definitely need the ice bath today.

9. Ravens 1-2 vs Chiefs 1-2..  LOVE it!!!

And everyone said the Lions were dead after W1…

”No Ben Johnson!  No Aaron Glenn!”

Meanwhile, our old buddy Kelvin Sheppard looking pretty comfortable in the DC role…

Fun team.  Would like to see them vs. the Bills in February.
