hey guys I just want everyone to know....Tua completed 22 passes for under 150 yards. Do you think the reason we didnt get any pressure or sacks was because all of Tua's throws were at or behind the LOS? I think that contributed to that fact.

That's a good point. If you told me that we'd held Tua to that kind of yardage I would have assumed a slaughter

And pressure was there, it just seemed that Tua had uncharacteristic pocket mobility and accuracy under pressure tonight

I can't recall the last time we only had 3 possessions in a half. That was wild.

I didn't stay up for McDermott's presser. Did anyone ask about the missed challenge on the Dolphins' first drive?

I was hoping we challenged. That slight bobble I thought negated the catch...

I think most of the frustration comes from the constant struggles to get a stop on 3rd Down.

The Bills defense had an OK game on paper.  But there were a half-dozen times when they had a chance to put the nail in the coffin, but just couldn't make a play to kill the drive.

I'm not someone who studies the All-22 Coaches Film or advanced metrics websites.  I rely on my own eyes and experience of watching the NFL for 35+ years.  My personal unscientific definition of "pressure" is by counting 1-2, and whether or not the D-Line is able to either reach the QB or force him off his spot.  Even though Tua was getting the ball out quick most of the game, there were plenty of 3rd Downs where he was able to hold the ball longer than 2 seconds.  That's not good enough from the pass rush.

The Bills seem to get nice individual performances here and there, but not consistently strong play from the unit as a whole.  Joey Bosa has looked really good so far. But Groot, AJ Epenesa and the other edge rushers have been totally invisible.  Ed Oliver was amazing Week 1.  But he's been hurt the last two games, and we haven't gotten much from anyone else.

3rd down defense was a legit problem. As someone pointed out above, Tua did some uncharacteristic things on a few of those 3rd downs where he got out of the pocket/scrambled and extended the play and that led a few first downs out of those 3rds.

Yes our third down D needs to be better, and pass rush needs to get home. BUT my point does remain, Tua was held to under 150 yards and half of his 22 completions were at or behind the LOS. That will make the pass rush less effective.

Oh I forgot to add - McD not challenging that obvious 3rd down bobble from Hill is coaching malpractice. Didn’t we hire a replay coach last year? Fire that guy.

If he had challenged that 3rd down, Miami probably punts and that changes the entire demeanor of the game.

Musing with 'some' sleep

1. Josh can not throw a better pass than the one he threw to Kincaid in the right end zone corner.  Timing, angle, placement..  ooh la la

2. Cook is such a sneaky runner.  It doesn't look like he is running and then bam, he turns it up a notch.

3. Wasn't surpised at all the game was close.  Dolphins playing for their season last night.

4. Roughing the kicker was the play of the game.

5. Surprised the Bills did not get a sack in that game with such a patchwork OLINE they were up against.

6. Miami is going through DBs at an unsustainable rate.

7. Tre White looks slow.  He did make some good tackles though.

8. Held my breath through the commercial break when Benford went down.  Glad he was able to finish.

9. The Prater miss had a huge impact on momentum.

10. Allen picking up 19 on a 1st and 20 scramble was also a massive play in the game.

11. TB.. TB.. TB..  The nailer in the coffin.

12. Miami has a nice two-headed monster in the backfield now.
13. Special Teams not so special..  Fix that please.

What did you think of going for the field goal with under 30 seconds left and a 7 point lead.  It worked out but I would have either run the ball to gain a couple more yards or punted to push them back.

My fear was the risk of missing the kick was too high and giving them a short field to go for the win (with a quick score and 2 pointer).  I thought our D could tie them up for 25 seconds if they were deep and no time outs left.

It was a helluva gamble considering how poorly Prater missed on the first FG try.  A miss there increases the anxiety across WNY.

They only showed it once at the stadium for some reason too.

He is usually terrible with pressure and having to extend plays, but he was awesome at it last night. Hats off to him. The last two times he played us he has been a lot better. But that was a terrible INT. No excuse for that.

It was a 5 yard gain at the beginning of the game. I was fine with not challenging it.

Has there been any update on Hairston?  He is due back after saints game?

Keep healthy, keep winning, get one seed and get into playoffs.  I think defense will be better once we get some guys back and they can gel some.  Biggest concerns for me is lack of Groot….he is our highest paid d player and I am not sure I have seen him.  Also a bit concerned about wear and tear on our Cook if we keep running him like we have been.

division games are usually close and Miami playing for season so not too concerned with how close it was. Prater hits that FG and I think it is more lopsided but a W a W. Go Bills

He can start practicing that Tuesday after the Saints game… when he’s actually elevated to the 53 is anyone’s guess.

The defense is missing a lot of components. Obviously Ed and Milano were the big names but the PED Twins are still suspended and the teams first round pick at corner is on IR. That's 5 potential high end role players or starters that this defense could have in the pipe. I'm not super worried about the defense. They gave up 21 points could have been more could have been less. The Fins offense isn't a bad unit either despite their O-line issues. I also just completely throw out Thursday games. Thursday games esp divisional Thursday games are a bit wonky.

I want to see more of this defense in action on Sundays and Mondays before I really make any judgements on it. One bad game in the opener, one good game week two, and one OK game in week 3...

Other morning after thoughts:

James Cook has 4 TD in 3 games. He's top 5 in YPG

Allen had completions to 9 targets. 6 had more than one. I know the offense is still coming together but this could be scary

Offense is a WR who can win consistently on the outside away from being unstoppable.

I doubt we trade for that guy, so we have to hope Allen/Palmer develop and/or Keon figures out how to win using his physicality.

It’s obvious Tre White is old and slow!

The speed of Miami ate him up all night long. We maybe in trouble against high powered offenses. I hope Maxwell is all they are expecting, thought Strong might be a better option right now.

When the Fins are right, they ARE a high powered offense.  Hill and Waddle are two of the fastest WRs in the NFL, and Achane is a very fast RB who can catch the ball out of the backfield.   There aren't many defenders who can stick with that trio.

I *think* Coleman can do it, but I thought last night would be the breakout and it wasn't

In fairness Walker was right in his face and got a graze on the pass but yeah Bernard read that all day
