Yea that could be I’m gonna watch again and look closer…the ravens dbs really seem to take it a step further to me in real time but I’ll try to be as objective as possible on a rewatch 😁

feels like the bills dbs will put hands on guys and not really grab or turn them much and the ravens push the envelope a bit further and will grab a lot of jerseys

I like Benford a lot, but I think you wee see he easily should have had 3 or 4 flags thrown on him last night.  But, that being said, some of those plays still resulted in a positive outcome like the Hopkins TD for the Ravens.  There were bigger missed PI calls on the Ravens that killed drives for us.

End of the day though, both teams got away with a lot of PI non-calls though

Our starting wide receivers combined for over 200 yards receiving against the Ravens - a total that last year's wideouts didn't often achieve.  Is this a better receiving corps?

Coleman  8/112

Shakir  6/64

Palmer  5/61

How do we explain their productivity?  Weak Raven secondary?  Good scheme and play-calling by Brady?  Josh makes any receiver look good?  Or do these guys have some legit talent?

Your thoughts?

Our WRs, some of whom are gimpy at the moment, are not all that. They couldn’t get open all night and Josh had to keep extending plays to give them the time to get open. It’s a work in progress is the best thing I can say about this group at this time. Allen is the definition of making chicken salad out of chicken crap.

Yeah Shakir is clearly still hobbled and getting battered around by Kyle Hamilton all night may not have helped.

I’m hopeful that he can get right as the season goes on. Even if that means starting Samuel in his place for a game.

I don't want to be the wet blanket all the time

But the deciding factors today were the Ravens inexplicably deciding to play off and Allen going nuclear, not the quality of our wrs

That was my impression as well.  They thought they had it won and started playing conservative...playing not to lose.  And that's why they lost.

For some unknown reason The Ravens started playing soft with the 15 point lead and the Bills are a good team and took full advantage of it

Was it the Ravens playing soft or adjustments by the Bills? Could it be as simple as Brady not calling run plays and short passes, or the receivers deciding to get open, or Allen hitting the small windows he wasn't trying earlier? Looking forward to the analysis.

I hope so too, but high ankle sprains tend to linger all season. Same with Keon’s groin pull. But I don’t think we have the luxury of giving them the time necessary. Which means less than the best practice required to stay game sharp during the week. As for Samuel, I get the impression he’s in McD’s doghouse.

Buffalo decided to actually go downfield, what a concept. This oline is great and Allen is elusive. Chuck that thing.

The 4 min offense. I have to think this became obvious to staff today. Also, part of me wonders if there was some “rust” on O/OC

Josh(WR) threw 0 preseason game passes.

Keon looked purposeful last night.  Thought he had a great game.

Last year on plays he wasn’t the primary receiver, he seemed to be lost.  Almost disinterested.  I believe McD called him out and one point.  Last night, his head was on the game.  That tipped pass TD was a great example of him being on the game - tried to get open, ran where’re his QB was going amped kept his eye on the ball to the end.

Palmer looks like a NFL receiver. Looks to run crisp routes, is where he was supposed to be. Best way to explain how he looked is he doesn’t waste motion..just plays.

Kincaid looked more physical last night. Thought he looked good.

Allen threw the ball directly to Kyle Hamilton leading Shakir -- and maybe the best safety in the game hit Shakir and hit him early on what should have been PI.  To call that a drop by Shakir is wild to me.

I think the play you're thinking of was to Palmer. I'm talking about a different one, I think it came on the series after Allen got out of trouble and flipped the ball to Shakir. On 3rd and 8 the pass hit Shakir right in his hands but there was contact and he didn't complete the catch. I don't know if if will officially go down as a drop because of the contact, but my point was his WR had a chance to make a play for him in a critical moment and couldn't do it.

Shakir otherwise had a pretty good game. So did Coleman although his almost all happened in the 4th quarter. I just question if we can sustain a bunch of WR3 types (maybe Coleman can keep developing into a WR2) and not one pass catcher that is your go to guy on a critical play, while also trying to get by with a defense that once again looks a complete waste of investments. We have a defense where you'll probably need to win some shootouts paired with an offense that isn't built to win them, save for Josh going god mode.

Agreed. I appreciated the refs "letting them play" for the most part.

Keon was feasting on the sidelines, snatching the ball out of the air. He’s ready to shine.

That high snag "rebounding" catch was beautiful. That thing was zooooooming!!

Also felt like him and Josh had a miscommunication on a 2pt in end zone (I think it was a 2pt, or was it for a TD?). Josh rifled it in low, and Keon was expecting a bag shoulder lob.

Palmer looked nice last night. What a clutch play that was on last drive. Hopefully we can crack open his potential!!

Not sure if we’re thinking of the same play, but my recollection of it (haven’t rewatched the game yet) was that Josh had bad ball placement on that pass.  If he led Shakir, the contact may not have been on the ball/arms and it would’ve likely been a catch.

the placement of the pass made it much more difficult.  Definitely not a drop imo…. But who know, we might be talking about different plays

I think as each game passes (no pun intended) that Josh will create more chemistry and trust with the new guys and things will get better . Last night showed he is getting more trusting of the guy that made the catch deep to get them in field goal range heck I can't even remember his name .

But it's looking pretty good so far .

Don’t know yet but I’m excited about Keon.

Hate to nit pick - I don’t think Palmer is on the same page with Josh yet - and I’m not happy about how he stopped/gave up on 2 balls one of which was almost a pick.

Used to Mack busting his tail doing everything last year.  Palmer has to be better.

Look the Ravens are awesome.  That’s a great defense.  I think Brady was a bit timid in how he attacked it.

That one was weird! I dunno if he thought the ball already went some where else? Or if it was a total mental lapse and he thought he was decoy route only? That one was frustrating AF.

They are 💯 good enough as long as our D doesn’t suck it up and lose it for them.

they aren’t great, but I don’t think WR will be what brings us down

I'm actually feeling good about our receivers after that game. The first three quarters were rough, but that was the best secondary we will face all year. Palmer plus year 2 Coleman will be a nice upgrade from last year.

Not good yet. Still a work in progress. But sufficient if they let Josh be Josh (he made Robert Foster look like an NFL receiver).

Brady needs to start developing a passing game. Study Andy Reid and learn to scheme guys open for 7 - 9 yard gains.
