Gabe Davis would be coming here as WR4, at best, behind Keon, Palmer and Shakir.

Id take that in a second over Moore or Samuel.

Hes also an elite blocking WR and could do some of what we had Mack Hollins doing last year.

Did the Jacksonville coaching staff teach him to get down after he catches the ball over the middle instead of struggling for an additional yard and fumbling it in traffic? If so….I'm a solid maybe.

I wonder if the DuBose signing impacts this at all.

I said it a few weeks ago though, Gabe is probably signing somewhere on the minimum/potentially even practice squad. He's a steal at that cost IMO. Most players at that cost are guys that cannot under any circumstance play a snap of offense.

Gabe Davis as the starting X and Gabe Davis as the back up X are two different things. Not sure why it’s so binary for some. I hated Gabe as the #2 option on this offense. As the 4-5? I’d take that.

Im intrigued by the idea mostly because the Bills have nobody who can- legit- line up at the X except Coleman. We have a bunch of slots or slot/Z hybrids.

All that said I don’t think it’ll happen. Might be nothing more than a ploy to light a fire under Samuel’s ass.

Medical evaluation.

I like it, I think having Gabe on retainer or on the PS makes sense. At the very least kicking the tires and seeing what he has in the tank is prudent due diligence.

Also, the Bills just don't have a lot of physical, aggressive guys at the skill positions. We're big on finesse.  Davis is a blocking machine and brings a little bit of nastiness that we seem too polite to broker otherwise

You have to give him s physical and makes sure he's healthy

I was on my way to a medical appointment, and 550 is a preset on my car radio, so shoot me...😑

The morning show said something about a medical appointment that Davis still has (today?) with the Steelers.  Probably checking to see if 'butterfingers' is a bona fide medical condition. 🤔

Drops and miscommunications as WR4 instead of WR2 are still unappealing to me.

As I said last season, he's a stark example of addition by subtraction for this offense/qb.

Nice guy and hard worker unquestionably.

The Bills need more players who play big in big games.  That's Gabe Davis.  There's zero reason not to do this

No.  Next draft will be all safety and DL.  We'll pick up some scrap heap WRs in FA that everyone will lose their minds over in the offseason only to see in preseason games why they were on the scrap heap

Gabe Davis is a scrap heap WR.  A familiar one, yes...but still unsigned for a reason.

That they're hosting him for a visit tells the story that not all is well at WR.

As long as he’s WR # 4 then fine. He’s a very good blocker which the Bills appreciate from their Wide Receivers. He’d be a good injury fill in for a game or two from injury. Anything beyond that I’ll pass

WR#4 = DB#1? 🤔 (Deep Blocker) 😁

Fair.  We know he's capable of having big games though. Like I said, as long as he's not the #2, which God help us if he is.

How much of the passing offense is Josh going off script, extending plays because the WRs are bad and struggle to get open?

Round and round we go...

The original argument was back when we traded Diggs, and the concern was that we were going to suck because we had no difference makers at WR.  Then, when we still had a top offense the argument shifted to- "well, it's all Josh."

It has been proven that we have a championship caliber offense.  Josh, plus a great oline, great run game, good TE's, and capable role players at WR works.  Anyone without an agenda can see what is holding this team back from championships is the defense.  And if we didn't hit on the early defensive picks in this draft it will continue to be the case.

Id much prefer Shavers

The good part about that is if you still want him in November, he will be available. That’s actually the stuff about this that I can’t stand. Fans love the dudes that literally never do anything. But hate on the guys that actually have success. Yeah Gabe Davis sucks..the guy caught 4 TDs in a playoff game but Shavers who will probably go his entire career without cracking an NFL roster. That’s the guy we need

I have no problem with Gabe Davis because I know what he is. He can stretch the field and is a good blocker. He is not a possession receiver, drops too many catchable balls and does not open up the middle of the field. I hope we aren’t giving up on Moore already because, regardless of talking heads I know he brings something to this offense that we don’t have (outside of maybe Shakir). He creates a lot of separation. If Davis is coming in because they’ve given up on the Samuel experiment or think he’s better fit for the Shavers role than fine with me.
