The allure of the unknown, plus flashes throughout the off-season, intrigue me wrt Hancock (It's going to be Bishop until he proves he can't do it imo. I hope he has a Bernard-esque ascendence) Edited August 18 by NickelCity Quote

Maybe it was the camera angle, or some other quirk in how the picture looked to me, but I could sworn that while he was on the field, the actual quarterback on the field, White yawned between plays. Whether he did or not, that summed up how a feel about White. Total lack of energy. He seems to be working so hard to be steady, no highs and lows, that he's actually numb to what's going on out there. He seems to think executing is knowing what to do and then going through the motions to do it. Trubisky has some passion and some brains. He's my guy now. I saw that, Shaw. To the point that I paused the feed and backed it up so that I could watch it again. I pointed it out to my wife and daughter. I couldn't believe it. Quote
ShakAttack Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Hamler continues to give the offense a spark with the rare opportunities he gets. Still think its too bad he won't make this team. Quote

Off the ball, late to react, no closing speed. He is no place close to ready. Moore. Oh, I've been so hoping he'd make an impact, waiting for him to show something special. Instead, he looked like just another joe, and then the drop. I'm ready to let him go and put Shavers on the 53. White. Sorry, the false starts were just unbelievable. Two or three years on the team (whatever) and he doesn't know how to get off on a silent count? I watched only the first half. Best thing I saw, by far, was Dorian Williams playing like he was on fire. Everyone else seemed to be sleepwalking, and Williams was playing with passion. If I was a coach and saw a player yawning during a game, especially when trying to win a job, Ivthink I’d cut him then and there. 1 Quote

Yes he’s struggled mightily but our best path to success is hoping it’s just rust and injuries preventing him from playing to his potential. It does seem Hancock is making serious strides. He is just one of those guys who finds a way onto the field and makes it imperative to keep him there. Beane has let both Ragland and Basham go after just 2 years. Both were second round picks. Not saying it’s going to happen, but Beane is willing to let guys go if it’s clear they aren’t going to help. 1 Quote

It was a different situation because he wasn't on the field and wasn't playing...but Josh did it last week against the Giants. The timing couldn't have been better either. Early 3rd Q I think, Dawkins was being interviewed on the sideline. The reporter was asking him how JOsh has grown over the years and his leadership. As Dawkins was talking about Josh's leadership, the camera went on Josh, who let out a good 10 second yawn. I chuckled to myself and thought, "if that was anyone but Josh, that might be a little concerning" Quote

I pointed it out to my wife and daughter. I couldn't believe it. Thanks. I'm sorry to hear that, for White's sake, but glad to hear that I'm not imagining things. My time playing team sports is decades in the past, but one thing I remember is how much I was focused on the game, how much my brain is fully occupied to the actual play. The idea of doing much of anything else was dismissed as impossible. In some ways, it's the height of brain activity, with eyes and ears and your nerves operating at full speed, and your brain processing it and deciding how to respond and then sending messages out to all of the muscles. I think it would be impossible for all of that to happen every play if between each play I slowed my brain down to the point where I was approaching sleep and needed more oxygen just to stay awake. The play itself is a high-adrenalin affair, and sleep is definitely a no-adrenalin state. If he really is that calm between plays, he's not actively preparing for the next play. He's not paying attention to his own body, not paying attention to the body language of his teammates and his opponents, and not actively managing his team. He's listening to his coach on the headset. Essentially what it suggests is that he has to concentrate so hard on receiving the play call and then executing it that he shuts out everything else. I have no idea whether that's where White's head actually is, but that's what the yawn said to me. 1 Quote

Not sure if its schematic issues with the safeties, or if they are just slow in recognition and reaction...the Bills never clogged up the middle of the field forcing throws to the outside, and you saw the results I wouldn't know it even if I saw the all-22, but that's very much what it looked like. Their qbs could complete the underneath throws over and over. DBs may have looked too deep, but at least they were in the picture. Underneath defenders sometimes weren't even on the screen. Quote
Bray Wyatt Posted August 18 Posted August 18 Bad Night - Pam Oliver, man what happened to her? She looked like she wanted to be there even LESS than the Bills 1 1 1 Quote

buffaloboyinATL Posted August 18 Posted August 18 12 hours ago, GunnerBill said: Joe Andreessen - Possibly the first time since the train left the station last summer that someone has pumped the breaks but that was a rough half of football for Buffalo Joe. Again getting the start as the 2nd string MLB he struggled with Ben Johnson's play action calls - was not getting his depths right, was attacked in zone coverage and then made a mental mistake in man coverage too and dropped his guy. The suspicion has been there throughout that he is a bit more of an AJ Klein type who is a lot happier moving forwards than backwards but the Bears might be the first team to have really exposed it. Mike White - I am not here to tell you Mitch Trubisky is good, but he is better than this. White's accuracy is a total lottery ticket. I will give him his props, I like how he stands in there and is willing to take a hit to get the ball off but he just misses too many throws. He didn't get a ton of help, I admit, but 4/11 for 54 yards with the 2nd string receivers and the best collection of offensive linemen the Bills had active was not a great statement in the backup QB battle. Yeah, this was definitely not a good night for Andressen and I can guarantee you that the Hard Knocks team will not be doing him any favors on tomorrow night's episode. The story of the possible end of his journey as the home town kid done good, will definitely start building. Regarding Mike White, all I can say is although the end results were the same, the offense looked better when Mitch Trubisky came into the game. Like you said, Trubisky wasn't good, but he looked more capable of operating this offense than Mike White did. Quote

To me the difference is the Bills have more versatility in the secondary with guys like Lewis, Hancock so they don't need Codrington to play at all, only return. While at WR the Bills don't have that much versatility or maybe not anyone with Shenault's speed so for those reasons I give him the edge. I could see Shenault taking snaps at WR in a game, doubt you'd see that from Codrington on defense. Quote
