WotAGuy Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) I subscribed to HBO Max at 9.99/month at about 8:30 pm and watched it on the HBO Max app on my LG TV at 9:00. I didn’t go through Prime; my wife suggested doing it that way but why go through another layer of BS. Going direct through HBO Max worked fine. 13 minutes ago, Fleezoid said: One thing notable to me was, how Josh refers to his receivers by their number and not name. For such a player/team type of guy, it seemed odd at first. But I really like it. It makes it more like business and not personal. And not the Cook version of business, the 'I'm at work conducting business' thing. It’s just because Josh has never heard of any of our WRs either. Edited August 6 by WotAGuy 1 6 Quote
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Loved the Pittsford Farms Dairy segment - my daughter worked there for years til she went away for college and would still pull shifts when she came home. Players have always loved that place. Apparently they did a team outing there a few days ago. 2 Quote

It’s just not worth the risk…. You may have hit on something - let Josh appear in a loincloth - sure to improve ratings. 'Hard Knocks: Josh Allen Naked and Unafraid' 4 Quote

I had it free for years when I was with ATT, but I am with Verizon now and I get it in a cheap bundle with some other stuff. Sopranos - epic, top 3 show all time IMHO. Succession - One of the best shows of the past decade IMHO. Game of Thrones - Best of its genre House of Dragon - Also great, same world as Game of Thrones Barry - Excellent - Great balance between comedy, drama and action - more comedy than anything. The Wire - one of the best of its kind. Curb Your Enthusiasm - Uncensored and politically incorrect "Seinfeld" - its excellent. Silicon Valley - Rewatching this again now actually and still hilarious. Entourage - Another all time great comedy loosely based on Mark Wahlberg and Are Emmanuel (head of WME) The Wire - one of the best of its kind. Eastdown and Bound & Vice Pricinipals - if you like Danny McBride, two hilarious comedy series True Detective - Season 1 especially (each season is different and independent from the others) White Lotus - All seasons have been really good, each season is also different and independent from the others for the most part. The Night Of - One of the all time best limited series shows IMHO The Jinx - Awesome docuseries following alleged killer Robert Durst There are a lot of other great shows, limited series, documentaries etc all depending on taste, this is just more of a hit list I would start with. Its really got some of the best original content of any content provider out there IMHO. Agreed Barry and Succession are two of the best original shows on there for sure. I haven't watched Veep, but Curb is an all time fave for me too. Life and Times of Tim and Ten Year Old Tom are often overlooked gems lol. I still need to watch the Last of Us one of these days. NOTE: Unrelated to HBO - just on the topic of shows - Just finished the first season "Mobland" on Paramount+ (by Guy Ritchie) and it was awesome. Not sure who has the streaming rights in the US, but the best show of the 1990's and one of the very best ever for mine was NYPD Blue. Dennis Franz starring as the recovering alcoholic detective Andy Sipowicz is simply must watch television. The best cop show by a mile. NYPD Blue Committed to reflecting reality, this series portrays the mature themes of life in the police department of New York City with an unprecedented combination of real life, real language and real dramas. Whether it's in the squad room or the bedroom, "NYPD Blue" will offer viewers the kind of realism more often associated with theatrical films than with network television. Quote

Perhaps there'll be one of those 'mic-drop / cut-to-commercial' type scenes in episode 2. One thing notable to me was, how Josh refers to his receivers by their number and not name. For such a player/team type of guy, it seemed odd at first. But I really like it. It makes it more like business and not personal. And not the Cook version of business, the 'I'm at work conducting business' thing. I find that odd, too. It reminds me of the army. During duty hours, a soldier will be called by rank and surname: "Corporal Jones." But even off-duty when hanging out with friends, he's typically called, "Jones" instead of his first name. I think this creates an emotional buffer which can be useful when soldiers are hurt or killed, but also a sense of unity, identity, and camaraderie. It's like a reminder that you aren't hanging out with your undisciplined, dope-smoking, sleep-till-noon high school or college buddies anymore. You're in a different world, now. I wonder what Josh's rationale is. 1 1 Quote

Blainorama5 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Definitely seemed like an appropriate love-story-ish intro to Buffalo and the team ... especially since the head producer is from Rochester!! Kind of a powder puff episode compared to other HKs, but was still awesome to watch!! Love the on-field banter as always from Josh. Can't wait to see more.... Quote
Robert Paulson Posted August 6 Posted August 6 12 hours ago, Brand J said: Spoiler alert, season 1 of The Wire was solid, not spectacular, just solid. Season 2 was a TOTAL bore, seasons 3 & 4 are the meat and potatoes of the show. Absolutely great stuff with some calling season 4 the best written season in TV history (I’m more partial to 3). Season 5 was back to being okay. All the pieces matter. Season 2 is knocked until you understand the show as an anthology of how public and private Institutions systemically extract wealth from inner cities and are allc9mplicit in not solving problems. The local drug trade The loss of blue collar jobs and international crime The politicians and police bureaacracy The school systems The press Each group trying to survive by failing the people they should be helping. Plus it is well written, well acted and surprisingly funny. 1 1 Quote

bills_fan Posted August 6 Posted August 6 My best takeaway was that Tre looks sharp, fluid and in fantastic shape. Getting me a bit excited and hopeful that we see the old Tre this year. Would make our defense very good. 4 5 Quote
Jauronimo Posted August 6 Posted August 6 The show needs to work with the material they have. Did you guys really expect HBO to spin up narratives like an embattled coach or a QB controversy and expect the people to buy it? Quote

Max has never streamed first showings of any series' episodes at the same time as HBO. Once the episode is complete on HBO it is uploaded to Max. That's not true. I've had Max, for a couple of years and have always watched series episodes right when they first air through the app. In fact, new episodes pop up in my next up watch list on my Apple TV right away.
