Means very little right now, and honestly some of them I felt like he could have drawn a flag, but I wish him well and he is at least off to about as good as start as he could have had there. Pads aren't on, Refs are not in full force. He has a lot to still prove, but he is being talked about because he has been on the best guys in camp for them. to be fair, he’s has been INTs Quote
BritBill Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Just seen Elam is leading the league in yards allowed by CB so far this season. 232 yards. 2 2 Quote

Big Turk Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Beane when he found out that someone would give the Bills a draft pick for Elam. 12 minutes ago, Alphadawg7 said: Oh what could have been - it was gross watching that secondary in the 2nd half. Should anyone be surprised? They have been the worst defense in football the previous 4 years when Parsons has been out of the lineup. 1 2 Quote

ColoradoBills Posted September 15 Posted September 15 If McDermott and his boys couldn't get Elam sorted out, I don't think anyone can. It was just a great athlete that couldn't be NFL trained. The pick hurt this team, unfortunately. 4 1 Quote

BillsfaninSB Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Bills were in such a bad spot in that draft. Had no choice but to take a CB. Easy to say now but Beane should have moved up to get Mcduffy but I guess there was no way of knowing what KC did. Quote

I suspect teams draft rawer guys now at that position for whatever reason? Quote

Also, the position has gotten harder to play as offenses have gotten more complex. Elam might have been good 20 years ago. 1 Quote
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Just never seemed to develop much at the position. Slow to get his head around in man, has some ball skills but those tend to show when he's in zone and has eyes on QB. Minus tackler. Takes penalties. My assumption is his speed made recovering much easier at the college level to get in position, and NFL talent around speed and separation is too good. Quote
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Benford turned out to be such a parachute on the Elam pick. If you were to do a redraft it would be a matter of when, not if, Benford goes in the 1st round. 1 1 Quote

Man, this one is such a mystery to me. Has all the traits, appeared to work hard and know how to prepare. Hes now in a defense that suits him well. But thats the draft in a nutshell Quote

What some may forget is that Tre was not coming back soon following ACL and CB2 Levi Wallace was gone in FA. The Bills HAD to address the CB position with their first pick in the draft. I’m convinced they wanted McDuffie, but of course KC got there first. I don’t believe Bean was sold on Elam, but he was next on the board after an earlier run on CBs. Quote
