A lot of the drought era busts are hated because we needed a savior. the fact of the matter is that we were a divisional/conference championship team before and after Von. It sucked he got hurt and it was largely a waste of money, but nothing really changed with or without him. Quote

I'm sure there is one but I can't think of another Bills player with that massive a disparity of dollars vs performance. IMO the process from Beane was solid. He took a massive swing to address a glaring weakness in hopes of winning a Super Bowl. It’s all because of the ACL injury. When Von was healthy he was a force on the edge and played well. He likely would’ve finished with 10+ sacks. He never was close to the same player. All players are essentially one ACL tear away from changing the trajectory of their careers. Also even though he signed for six years, it likely was always going to be a three year contract. 3 1 Quote
frostbitmic Posted July 18 Posted July 18 Without Von Miller our chances of signing OBJ just dropped to zero. 1 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I'll guess 4 sacks on the season. If he makes a difference in the playoffs for them that's huge He did recover the Lamar fumble for us....should have scored but still that was a massive play in a close game Quote
RyanC883 Posted July 18 Posted July 18 pre ACL was a terrific signing. Then it just all vanished. He never got it back. Quote
Thrivefourfive Posted July 19 Posted July 19 Von seems well liked by all levels of his prior organizations, and he’s great with the media, great with publicity. He’s an asset for sure, but sadly he’s worst attribute as an memeber of a team is found on the field these days. Wish him the best. Quote

Not his fault. It was a calculated risk Beane took, and understand he was committed to trying to win a SB. Injuries as Miyagi-San indicates it was just bad luck for 1.5 years due to injuries. Outside of his suspension. He played well last year. It was time to move on from him, and appreciate the gamble Beane took on Bosa. He could be a gem, or at the least another gamble on a possible winner. If not, well, we didn’t have enough $ for anyone else. We could never compete with Cleveland or Vegas for Garrett or Mad Max. 1 Quote

Is Von the most hated Buffalo Bill in recent history? The domestic violence suspension, underperforming the contract, saying he’d be back in a week then staying out the year… I think he redeemed himself a bit by agreeing to the incentive laden contract last year (which was likely to try to game the system around his suspension)… but I think he’s my #1 most hated. Willis McGahee is a close #2 with the trash talking of Buffalo women on his way out. What an awful regime to draft him in the 1st when we already had Travis Henry and he had just completely torn his ACL. I don’t blame him for the injury or contract he got. Prior to injury he looked to be the guy we brought in as the closer and missing piece. His off field issues are a reason to dislike and his constant guarantees he made about everything that all turned wrong was annoying. Strictly talking on field and excluding injuries or contract Kelvin Benjamin is my #1 most disliked. Absolute lazy trash that you saw every week. Zero effort and his performance showed that. turning down rookie Josh Allen to run routes pre game was it for me. Quote

The signing bombed and he still has a job. I'm not expecting Bosa to make a difference or for us to move on from Beane either. 1 hour ago, BillsFooteball said: I don’t blame him for the injury or contract he got. Big Turk Posted July 19 Posted July 19 (edited) Wondering if we might regret this..was listening to the radio today and they said Miller was best in the NFL in "get off rate" per NextGenStats on the snap last year still, slightly ahead of Myles Garrett. He was also 8th in PFF and top 10 in ESPN in Pass Rush Win Rate. Edited July 19 by Big Turk 1 1 Quote

He was also 8th in PFF and top 10 in ESPN in Pass Rush Win Rate. We had him on a very limited snap count, so all he had to do was rush the passer .. and even with that win rate, he struggled to actually finish the play. Its still a good stat, and I think Von situationally is a good signing for the Commanders, but I much prefer taking the swing on a one year Bosa deal over another year of Von. Von likely, even with his injury history, has a better chance of staying active all season .. but Bosa, should he figure out a way to limit the injuries, has a much higher ceiling at this point in their careers. We need difference makers, and a healthy Von doesn’t seem to be that anymore. Joey Bosa, when healthy, still has that in him. Quote
ChronicAndKnuckles Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Absolutely ridiculous signing for an over-the-hill player in their mid-30s by Beane that set this defense back tremendously at the time. Beane couldn’t foresee an injury, but should’ve stayed away based on his age ! Quote
