Who is your favorite Bill that was underrated or should have gotten more acknowledgement

I don't even think he made the team but RB Joique Bell was someone I thought could've been really good. His college stats/tape were insane but it was a small school so that was probably the knock on him. He did carve out a solid career as a backup in Detroit tho. 

 

When I was a kid, Pete Metzalaars was my guy. Just a monster of a man out there. 

 

I think we Bills fans probably rate him appropriately but right now in this era I really love me some Khalil Shakir. I call him the Pinball Wizard. Seems like nearly every time he gets the ball he's bouncing off defenders like a pinball, man.

Antoine Winfield because he was so effective at playing the pass and the run.  I remember that he was plug and play as a first year player at a very high level.  One of the most reliable tacklers as a CB that I have seen.  Well thought of during his career with the Bills, but he was much better than that.

Brain fart, yes they were both the 1995 class. I totally think 1999 plays out different if Johnson was originally a Bill as we would have seen if was worth supplanting Kelly sooner, never would have had traded away the 9th/4th Rounder overall pick in 1998 to acquire him etc. Simple Butterfly effect of drafting RJ vs Todd Collins could have completely changed what happened afterwards.

Kent Hull beloved by his teammates and sadly most of the people who vote in Hall never got to see him play. Him and Steve Tasker deserve the honor of being a Hall of Famer, there teammates in the Hall néed both of them there.

Aaron Schoebel would have been a huge star on another team, underrated pass rusher and he had a really funny dry sense of humor.

Heck if going to do a USFL Hall of Fame, Hull along with Kelly is in.

Kent Hull and Aaron Schobel.  Both of them were soft spoken guys that played at a very high level.  

 

Currently I think Dion Dawkins is underrated.  His technique is outstanding and he consistently takes advantage of his opponents weaknesses.  Smart and physical while remaining one of the most likable guys in the league.  How long until the "he's too fat" crowd starts up?

Only have time to list 3, all from the Knox era:

 

-Joe Devlin- solid, solid, solid.  When Mark Gastineau was leading the world in sacks, he said he voted for Joe Devlin every year for the PB.  Yeah, he was that good.  Gastineau, and most others never got past him;

-Shane Nelson-extremely short career due to injuries, but when he played, he was the glue of the Bermuda Triangle. Smart, fast and equally good in run and pass D;

- Ben Williams-he came on during the Knox era to have double digit sacks from 1980-83  Others like Smerlas got the talk, but if you needed someone to get to the Q< Williams was the guy.

McGee's kickoff returns were some of the only excitement we would get watching those drought-era games!

 

Then the league caught on and teams would rather kick the ball out of bounds to keep it away from him, knowing the Bills pathetic offense at the time wasn't going anywhere with it. Those were dark days to be a Bills fan.

 

I hope everybody takes a little time every once in a while to realize how lucky we are to have a successful team with a League MVP QB to lead it!!!
