Rodgers can still read a defense, and he still make the throws at the NFL level. But he is a statue at this point in his career. If their OL doesn't perform well then, I doubt Rodgers plays 17 games. That's assuming he doesn't hurt himself another way like torn ACL against the Bills when nobody touched him. They don’t, and make up for it by having a thin WR room. Average isn't going to cut it ,Rodgers has to play at an elite level for the steelers to get in the playoffs. They have Baltimore and Cinci to go through. And they play both teams to the wire with mediocre qb play every year. 1 1 Quote
MJS Posted Thursday at 08:42 PM Posted Thursday at 08:42 PM I think he'll look better than he did last year. He was with the Jets, afterall. 2 Quote

Bleeding Bills Blue Posted Thursday at 08:50 PM Posted Thursday at 08:50 PM Their offensive line investment has been considerable and they still looked relatively inept last year. Rodgers under center and in play action have been some of his better numbers so that aligns with the offense there. The leg injury is a concern though, as is his general point of view towards everyone. 2 Quote

He just has to play average at best and the Steelers will be in the playoffs. From there anything can happen. There's a solid chance Rodgers makes the Steelers dysfunctional though Quote

But if there is ever a team that needs a losing season (or an aggressive move on draft day) its the Pittsburgh Steelers. They are stuck in high functioning mediocrity and will never get out of it as long as they go just over 500 ever year and get bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs I guess I disagree he can still play. I think too many times teams do this instead of giving someone an opportunity to prove themselves. Quote
Mikie2times Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM The Jets are complete disaster and Hackett is probably the worst offensive coach in the NFL. They did not have the structure to deal with Rodgers BS. He ran all over them and it accelerated that disaster. In addition he was coming off a major surgery not having played for a long time. He has enough in the tank to produce a strong year and the Steelers have the structure to keep him in check. That defense is always nasty. Hell, they had us within 7 in the 4th quarter at home in a playoff game. I understand he's a bit of joke at this point. But the AFC just got a little stronger. Maybe that is good as it relates to more competition for our worse enemies. 3 Quote
stuvian Posted Thursday at 09:44 PM Posted Thursday at 09:44 PM what's the over/under on the number of games he'll start? Quote
julian Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM Ok guess I’m in the minority, but I believe if they’re able to protect him I that he can definitely compete for a wildcard. Rodgers numbers last year were decent, especially considering the organization he did it with. Steelers aren’t striking fear into the AFC contenders with this signing, but they could definitely cause some issues within their own division if they can protect. 2 2 Quote
