Q was a converted WR.  So he actually had release moves off the line - just not the suddenness and speed to compete as a WR in the NFL.  And while he stayed on the team as a core STer, he never became a good enough blocker to see more than cameo appearances.  But he could run a route and had good ball tracking and hands.

I remember watching a OBL segment with Greg Cosell where Q ran a route and caught a TD in the end zone and Cosell was like "who is that tight end?" clearly impressed by the quality of the route, and Tasker told him he was a converted WR and he was "oh, that would explain it."

20% of Quinton's career receptions came in the final NE game last year.

Morris has never been in a starting role so I wouldn't attempt to compare the two.

 

Nothing against QM but the Bills seem to now have 3 entirely different skilled TEs going into the season.

It's going to be interesting to see how Brady uses them.

It's a moot point as the ship has left the embarcadero and I see where he's now talking to Seattle but... (and I'm preparing to be shot down by the militants who are vehemently against what I'm musing about)... Rasul would be a perfect candidate to move to Safety in his late career.

 

He's got plenty of size (6'2" and 209 lbs) AND he's quite good at reading the QB and making plays on throws.

Kinda bummed because thinking back, the times I have noticed Morris have only been good plays, and we dont see him make any stand-out bad plays.

 

But then I remember his role as TE3 and Special Teams and have to think that's not too hard to replace.

Myself and Simon are against it. He has the smart but way too slow.

I think bowling Green converted him his junior year 

 

But for what he was a third tight end.. he has crafty route running skills and is a good pass catching option for sure 

 

You can't feed them all in the NFL but he's already lasted a good amount

Morris was a solid third TE for the Bills.  If Hawes gives Buffalo an upgrade, it will not be a huge one.  Hawes is a little taller than Morris and tested just a wee bit slower in the 40.  Both have good hands.  Hawes might be a better blocker. I have no problem with the Bills switching out one fringe player for another one if they think it can make them a bit better.

He was used as essentially another Offensive Lineman on the field. I wouldn't want Josh to be looking his way on anything but his last read.
