I just don’t get what some people expect for a fourth rounder. Take a WR prospect that might work out and play at some point or a monster that has shown some athletic ability and success at a position of need? Take a “safer” DL man so we can continue the mediocrity carousel? There’s no reward without risk. Yeah. I'd rather they swing for the fences on a guy like this. 3 1 Quote

He was projected to be a 1st rd pick at the end of 2023 - 2024 season, definitely a solid gamble especially in the 4th round Edited Tuesday at 10:05 PM by ddaryl 1 3 Quote

Interesting to me that they took him over Farmer, considering the visits they had with Farmer. Also, surprised they felt they needed to trade up for him, since the ratings I saw for Walker had him going lower. ESPN has Walker 10 rating points less than Farmer, for whatever that is worth. According to what I heard Beane say on a show is he was basing him on his play in 2023, I guess last season he played with a injury and wasn't as effective . He said if he had come out in 2023 he would have been a first rounder I guess he had 7 sacks that year & they are hoping that they can get him healthy and that he will play to the level he did then and that he could be a gem !! Slippery Rubber Mats Posted Tuesday at 01:42 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:42 PM Quote 9. Glaring omission: They failed to address one of their top needs -- defensive tackle, one of the deepest positions in the draft. They got jumped by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round, trading up one spot ahead of the Jets to select defensive tackle Deone Walker. The Bills suspected the Jets might grab him. Besides an excellent 2023 season, Walker had an excellent Senior Bowl week, showing that his back has improved since earlier in the year. 4 1 1 Quote

I agree... when you are getting to Rds late 4 thru 7 I am a huge proponent of taking a couple of shots on a boom or bust guy... Sometimes you get Benford, some times you get Ed Wang... but in the end... you find gems late and you have a bonus... now I am not advocating taking big swings at everyone in each Rd, but a couple a draft make sense to me... the TE Dawson Hawes we drafted in the 5th... best blocking TE in the draft... pretty safe pick for a pretty limited role... you are not expecting a Gronk or him to unseat a starter... but someone who can fill a specific role cheap now that Quentin Morris is gone... you need those guys too... but for sure take a shot on a boom bust player once or twice in the later rounds... 2 Quote

You basically have to roll the dice on a bunch of guys like this and hope they hit. He’s going to need at least one full offseason (probably 2) to get his body right. I doubt he plays much this season, can’t exactly hide him on the practice squad either. Might be a candidate for a phantom season ending training camp injury. who knows, maybe he’ll make huge strides early 🤷♂️ I kind of agree with you. Essentially, early in round one, you want to find a high floor, high ceiling prospect. Later on, if you see a guy who has a high ceiling, he's probably going to have a low floor. That might be due to deficiencies in technique or skill set, medical or character questions etc. You also might choose a high floor low ceiling guy. That might be due to athletic or size limitations. You might be getting a real solid player, but you're extremely lucky if that player turns out to be a superstar. Quote

SoCal Deek Posted Tuesday at 06:15 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:15 PM What I find interesting is that the Bills second round pick, a guy they moved up to grab has completely disappeared from the post draft front page. He’s either a sure thing lock or will forever be relegated to a Bills draft trivia question. Quote
starrymessenger Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago This is a really fun pick. Not many 4th rounders have a chance based on demonstrated ability (2023) and not just pure conjecture to become the best player in the draft. Quote
