CURTIS SAMUEL A BILL

Not saying I still don’t want a wr at 28 but Chop is really freaking good so Id be shocked if he’s there at 28

Yeah, depending which WR have gone, I'd be ok with it personally. Bit of a risk but high ceiling at a priority position.

I think the general concensus would heartily disagree.

Shakir more X then slot or the rookie we draft?

Thinking we are drafting an X. We can work in the new X in this season as he earns it. Next season Samuel can take over Diggs’ spot. In the near term Shakir, Samuel and Diggs can be on the field together.

Great signing, he should be a solid contributor, solid route runner and at some point ran a 4.31 40 but he is older now so maybe a 4.35 40? :D Solid hands also, seriously I think this a much better pickup than Hollywood Brown, I have no idea why people were wanting that guy, talk about a 1 trick pony with injuries no less!

So? And he makes 8 times what Shakir does and Shakir is already a better player.

The development of Shakir and Kincaid proved to me that we no longer needed to waste FA on WRs from other organizations.  Instead we need to draft our own cost controlled talent.

I know people here love the shinny new toy.  However at best Samuel is our 4th best receiving option (and maybe 5th behind Cook).  When the early draft pick outplays him and Samuel becomes our 6th or 7th best option, how will y’all feel about his $8 mill price tag when he’s seeing 3 balls a game?

1. You're presuming there is an early draft choice.

2. You're presuming they are instantly productive

This is just ridiculous.  This guy is his last 3 healthy seasons puts up about 70 catches a season with Washington’s and Carolina’s QB’s….but he will drop off of a table when he gets Allen at QB?  Allen is going to make him worse?

Fill in the blanks

Davis could never get on the same page as Allen, and it led to key drops and turnovers.

We want guys who can catch the ball, and we signed two of them. One a huge target, and the other is very good when he gets the ball in his hands.

People complain no matter what. Allen needs help, but you get some and it's just more bitching and moaning

Not complaining. Solid addition to the room. We still need to hit on our WR in the first round.

By the way, Samuel spent 75% of his time the last two years in the slot.  Last I looked that was where Shakir excels.

By the way Shakir was drafted for his WR flexibility. He can play in or out and did effectively in college. BB has an open view of the team concept in his WR room. I’m guessing Brady the OC said “hey BB go get Samuel, and let’s put the incredibly versatile Shakir on the bench. “

The last year they played together Edelman had 1100 yards and Amendola 240.  The best year they had together was Edelman 1050 yards to Amendola 650, but they had no decent boundary receivers.

Nope, you’re wrong.

The last year they played together, Amendola had 61 catches and 650 yards…as a 32 year old.

They had no boundary WR’s but didn’t they have a tight end?  The name escapes me…maybe you can help me out with that.

Edelman wasn’t on the team Amendola’s last year on NE in 2017.  Sorry Charlie check your facts. Also Gronk had 592 yards on 39 catches in 2013.  Again look up your stats.

Is he?   The money does not say so.  In 7 years he has 22 TD's.  Davis has 27 in 4 years and has been a great playoff performer.  Does this guy block?   He just seems different to me, not a huge upgrade.  Davis dropped the ball more than we like, sure but are you telling me this guy has no warts?

Yeah, the opinions of the fan base don't line up with that of the leagues decision makers.

People were hyper critical of Davis. It was excessive. He was a decent #2 wr and vastly outplayed his draft slot. He wasn't a top shelf #2 (aka 1b) but he wasn't paid or drafted as one.

I like the signing and am good with Davis moving on. Not sure it's the upgrade many think. That comes from the draft.

Huge upgrade over Gabe Dropavis.  Sign a S and go BPA in the first and 2nd.

We still need to hit on many of the 11 draft picks so that we can get younger faster.  2024 will be the last year of Diggs and Miller.   We will be looking to also get replacements for them this year.

I would bet money that our first round pick will be defense.

Yeah we can just talk about needing a wr for the next 5-10 years and then Draft one after Josh is done.

Edelman played his entire career with the Pats.  He was with the Pats from 2009-2020.  2017 was his injured year and that doesn’t mean he wasn’t on the team.

What did Gronk do the other years when he wasn’t injured?  He only played 6 games lol.

They win the SB those years ?

Is a lot of your anger over this move because you wanted them to draft two guys ? They still might

Dude, he can be moved around.  He is a versatile player.

Lol.  He’s a slot receiver.  He had 7 carries last year. 7!

I’d love this signing if we didn’t have a better player already in slot.  Had Beane signed someone like Samuel when Beasley left I’d be happy as anyone else here, but Shakir has developed into a very good player, who was one our best offensive players down the stretch last season.  To me this is just over priced depth with money that would be better spent elsewhere.
