As a lifelong buffalonian I consider buffalo part of the Great Lakes region … if I’m getting broader than saying WNY

 

Which is typically mostly part of the Midwest

 

Buffalo is a lot closer ( Culture wise ) to Chicago then NYC or Boston

Buffalo is a rustbelt city, same as Cleveland and Pittsburgh and Detroit (Erie, Akron, Rochester too among others). Once great cities where industry has left and they are now being reborn as something funky almost hip one could say. I wouldn't say Midwest, that makes me think of rural Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska.

As a 90% of my life Buffalonian, I agree with you about being part of the Great Lakes region. I have zero issue with the mid-west, the people tend to be salt of the earth.

 

If you ask 1000 people around the country to name a city in the mid west, not one of them is saying Buffalo

Rust belt is more of an economical and social construction For the downfall of manufacturing cities rather than geographic 

 

Seeing as the rust belt runs through West Virginia and Kentucky as well as Wisconsin and Michigan , geography wasn’t the factor … it was as you said industry leaving

I've been reading up on this whole idea, and Buffalo's role in the growth of the mid-west. It's actually fascinating imo.

 

Because of the prominence of the Erie Canal, and the linkage to the Great Lakes boats, most of the mid-west was settled through Buffalo... Celevland, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, even most of Minnesota were settled by people from or people coming through Buffalo. During this period, Buffalo was considered the end of the East. 

 

Now one of the main reasons why people say that Buffalo is the mid-west (and there are people outside of Buffalo who think this) is because of the similarity of the Buffalo accent to the Chicago accent. What they don't realize is that the classic "da Bears" mid-west accent originated in Buffalo/ Rochester & Syracuse, and they got it from us. 

 

But Buffalo is not the Mid-West... However, the Mid-West is more influenced by WNY and Buffalo than anything else.

I don’t care what people are complaining about on other message boards this week.  I go to the go fund me page from time to time throughout the day and read the most recent comments from new donors.  Many are genuine and touching.

I strongly believe that the majority of people you see on the KC and Cincinnati message boards, and the nasty commenters on Twitter, are the lowest of the low. These are the same people that likely wanted the game to continue that night...and definitely completed by the very next day.  These are jerks without empathy, all they care about is winning and not the people involved.  I don't believe the majority of fans from those teams feel that way, it's just the idiots are the loudest. 

 

And to be honest if the situation was reversed there would be a lot of jerky, immature Bills fans commenting too...I see these people all over the place on other teams' message boards and social media.  They often act like jerks over the most mundane things and make our fanbase look like losers sometime.

Buffalo is part of the Mid-Atlantic geographically. 

 

The Bills had the #1 seed which included homefield advantage and a bye under their complete control prior to the Bengals game. They now need help from the Raiders in order to obtain that. Once the horrible on field injury occurred to  Hamlin there was no solution to playoff seeding that would be totally fair to Cincinnati, KC and Buffalo. If any team has cause to B word about the unfairness of the NFL's solution it would be the Bills but it simply is what it is and time for the crybabies to STFU.

To read the comments of some Bengals fans online today, you'd think the NFL took away their eligibility for the playoffs for the next decade.

 

No solution to this was going to be fair to everyone.  Cincy probably got the worst of it - but they win tomorrow, against a likely 3rd stringer, and they're still in great shape.

Bills fall in the middle. Bottom line is they shouldn’t be awarded a bye and home field advantage without having to play the Bengals.

I agree for the most part, but the Chiefs are awarded home field and the bye after losing to both the Bills and Bengals. 
 

Im honestly surprised so many Chiefs fans are upset by a potential neutral field AFCCG. 
 

They are, by far, the thinnest skinned, most insecure fanbase on Twitter.  See a tweet that puts anyone even close to on par with Mahomes and they throw a cyber temper tantrum. 
 

That being said .. I genuinely thought they’d be happy by the lot they’ve been given.  
 

They get the bye if they win today.  Home field in the Divisional Round.  Avoid having to play both BUF & CIN.  …and the slight they’ve been given isn’t even a road game (of which Mahomes still won’t play one). 
 

At least the Pats fanbase had the GOAT and constantly made it to, and won Super Bowls.   The Chiefs have won one with Mahomes and got blown out in the other ..  and they never stop crying.

I have no problem with the decision to suspend play, and I was strongly opposed to resuming the game at a later date.  But you need to get over the idea that people who feel differently are anything other than well-meaning folks who reached a different conclusion than you.  That's not helpful.

I don’t know why people care what other fans say or post. It’s all so juvenile. But I guess it’s the nature of the interwebs.

 

I agree it’s odd that Chiefs are in line for the top seed despite losing to Bills and Bengals. However, those losses are apart of the calculus and the Chiefs were still tied with the Bills record-wise and ahead of the Bengals.
