If you could only have 1 (Beckham or McCaffrey)

If you could only have one, assuming Beane could find a way to make it work, without giving up "too much" which one?

  1. 1. which do you choose:

    • Odell Beckham Jr.
      95
    • Christian McCaffrey
      96
    • Neither (is it because we don't need them, don't want to hurt chemistry or something else?)
      45

I would love to have either one of them, as long as they don't affect the team chemistry, but if I had to choose one, I'd say OBJ.  I say this primarily because he would not cost us any draft picks, and although he would be a luxury item, there is less risk for the potential reward.  That being said, if Beane can use his wizard powers, and get CMC for a 4th round pick or something, that lowers the risk dramatically.

At the end of the day I don’t think Buffalo will pay the price for either.
I think CMC stays put or goes to some team barely clinging to life who is willing to pay a silly price.
And in the end I think Beckham gets a multi year deal because the bidding is increasing daily as teams jockey for cap space to make him an offer.
I think Buffalo rolls with what they have, cause 99% of the trade deadline smoke never turns into fire.

Totally agree. In addition to signing OBJ, we also prevent KC from getting a dynamic player

It's not exactly a great one or the other type of choices. OBJ is a free agent and we would give up nothing except whatever salary he is willing to take for a few weeks of service towards a SB push. CMC would need us to give up draft capital and/or players and cost a lot of money over several years. Either one could be a worthwhile additional but the situations are very different.

Between the two with not taking into salary cap ramifications, I’d go with CMC. Does anyone truly know what OBJ will be like after his injury and how rehab is going? When healthy he’s a playmaker but right now he’s still a major question mark on what his potential impact will be. So for me I’m going with a player that is playing now and not recovering from a significant knee injury.

Backham and it isnt even close.  As long as his knee is good to go he would make a way bigger difference than CMC and cost far less assets.

I agree with you bro... but if OBJ is still a question mark come mid December I may stick with what we have at that point. I don't know if I'm in the minority or majority here but I just don't think it's a smart move to give away any high type draft picks for CMC.

I mean I'd address other more important areas.

I just want to win it all, for 40 plus years I been just 1 play, or 1 catch or kick from winning it all.  I want them to acquire more than they need to ensure this is our year.  I really don't care what they give up.  With 1 Lombardi trophy I could die a happy man.

Bills aren't in a position to throw draft picks at a few week rental.   They have a lot of expensive talent on this roster already and a few more marquee guys we're probably not going to be able to re-sign.  We're going to need lots of rookie contracts overperforming for the next few years and it would be foolish to throw them away for one of the highest paid RBs in the league who's already been quite injury prone.

On the flip side as @Scott7975 pointed out there's little to no risk for bringing in OBJ for a quick SB ring off his injury if he's willing.  I still don't think he's a guy the Bills would resign next season though.

I just can't get behind this mindset.   Going all in is a flashy term these days since it worked out for the Rams last year.  Look at them now though.   Imagine we cripple our salary cap only to fall short somehow.  Now we just screwed another 2 years of Josh Allen's prime window.   If going all in could guarantee success, sure. but that's not reality.

I think just the opposite. I think OBJ could use this as a springboard to a multi year deal if he comes out with a strong showing in the playoffs. People want to see him produce at the level he was in the SB prior to the injury before signing him to a longer deal. He might have been the SB MVP if he stayed healthy. It’s a great showcase for him if he picks the right horse and plays well in the last game of the year.

I don’t know how he feels about this (obviously), but I think we are that horse! GO BILLS!

EDIT: Poll is currently a dead heat. If we were to choose one, I’d take the WR in today’s game IF he is healthy.
