I was hoping he would stick around. He could be a really good player at times. Now we need a Tongan or Samoan to replace him. You have to have one of those guys on defense to bring the mojo.

Done!  Epenesa is of Samoan descent, and is in a premiere position to become the new guy the fans love to hate, too.

What irks me is that when Star came back he obviously wasn’t in football shape, he didn’t get vaccinated, and the combination of the two resulted in a half-hearted waste of a season in which he stole the Bills’ money.

Agreed.  It was not his fault McBeane signed him to a horribly inflated contract for his talent. Yet another expensive drain of precious resources in another lazy attempt to bring talent from Carolina by Bills management. He was not terrible, just not worth what he was paid. He was very much an "I" guy like Beasely. Like the cliche, there is no "I" in team. At least Beasely was consistent and honest in his vaccination beliefs. Star was not. If Star was so concerned about his family he would have also got vaccinated to protect them. It looks like he just gamed the system for his personal advantage, and never did bother to make the effort to give 100% to the team and his teammates. Not sure I would have eaten that much cap up though, that's a lot of dead cap to swallow, and someone will have to be paid to do the mediocre job Star was doing, and that much money wasted could have brought some much needed talent toward winning a SB. Kind of a silent admission that Bills management's strengths are not reasonable contracts and cap management .

Not sure I agree with all of your post but this part is what irks me the most about Star.  I respect that all players had the right to make a personal choice about vaccination but the guy OPTED OUT and then didn’t get vaccinated — seriously, one of the most selfish (and ignorant) things I’ve seen from any player, ever.

Sweet now we can sign Justin Zimmer !!

Should have waited till June first but whatever.

Ford will be lucky to be here let alone be on the team.

Zimmer for the practice squad? Sure.

I’ve “sort of” defended Star on this board previously…not the contract, but his play on the field when healthy.  I think he was brought here for a specific purpose at a time when Beane and McD were trying to build a culture and work ethic.

That said, I think Star screwed the Bills when he sat out for Covid.  The decision to sit out a year is by itself not what bothers me…many were rightfully concerned about the safety of themselves and their families.  What irks me is that when Star came back he obviously wasn’t in football shape, he didn’t get vaccinated, and the combination of the two resulted in a half-hearted waste of a season in which he stole the Bills’ money.

I’m glad he’s gone and won’t miss him one second.  Kudos to Beane for ripping off that band-aid.

So what if he didn't want to get vaccinated you dont know his medical history etc... don't be one of those holier than thou fools

I’m not to take the time to read through page after page of this stuff. My problem with Star was his play, or lack there of, on the football field. I’m not going fault anyone with how they choose or chose to deal with a virus situation that is/was a brand new ‘thing’ in everyone’s life. I’m pretty damn sure nobody was asked what they would do in the case of international pandemic when they were hired!! I know I wasn’t. Were you? Now…however, once he was in that situation my personal feeling is he needs to tell the team he’s not comfortable playing anymore, or something to that effect, and bow out gracefully. No shame in that.

The Board is creative enough to come up with more.

Thanks for that.

I've been working on some new whipping boys and I was thinking about Dorsey.

How about "Our offense seems very stale under Dorsey, we should never have let Daboll go"

It's obviously a work in progress but this is what I have so far.

I do remember that when we replaced Shaq Lawson and the 3 yr, $30M, $20.8M guaranteed contract he signed with Miami by signing Mario Addison for 3 yr, $30.4M, $13.2M guaranteed - people looked at the stats and felt it was an upgrade.

Likewise, when we replaced Jordan Phillips and the 3 year, $30M, $14.5M guaranteed contract he signed with AZ with Vernon Butler for 2 years, $15M with $9.3M guaranteed  AND Q Jefferson for 2 yrs, $13.5M, $6.3M guaranteed

And maybe it was - I believe we got more out of Addison than Miami got out of Shaq, and we got more out of Butler (though playing out of position in 2020) than Miami got out of Phillips, who struggled with injuries there.

But it wasn't what we thought we were getting at the time of the signing.

I can agree with that, especially on the points of Butler and Jefferson. I thought they'd do a lot better here.  Addison has had his moments, but swap him and Hughes for Miller is a definitive upgrade.  Lawson is just icing on the DE cake.

at DT Phillips played well for us and hopefully we get the previous Bills version back. Star just lost his. mojo and I don't think its coming back.  Settle is unproven but seems to be in the same category of Harrison Phillips so that may wash out. But I think the main thing we accomplished was getting size down the middle. And that's where we were vulnerable last year.

The thing I feel best about is no matter what I think or anyone else thinks on this board, Beane and mcD know far more and they seem to understand where the holes are and fill them. We had a deeply talented roster last year and I expect this year that it will be the same.  They created a culture where players want to come to play.

That in itself is a small miracle, especially for the city of Buffalo.
