I just saw the highlights of the Cinci playoff game. On the winning fumble recovery, there was an obvious block to the back to a player that had caught up with the runner before he crossed the goal line. Why would that not be a penalty, it occurred before the touchdown was scored. I am beginning to get more and more confused about legal and illegal actions in the NFL. If the NFL preferred the Indy stadium I would assume the 2nd choice is Houston. Indy has a domed retractable roof, like Houston. The downside is that it does not have grass but turf, but neither did Indy. They have hosted Superbowls there in the past so they know it and the surrounding area works for a Superbowl-sized crowd. It is an AFC team, so they get to reward an AFC team financially with a big game. Other than an AFC West coast team stadium, it geographically makes fairer sense. It is in the central time zone, not the East or west time zone for time balance. If it is available, it makes the most sense business-wise for the NFL, and the NFL is all about business.

So what are the options? Trade deadline is past. Could a team release a QB under contract without them going through waivers? Are there any decent QBs on any practice squad? Any one decent on the spring football leagues who could be signed? Retired players: What are the NFL rules? Does the previous team they were under contract to at retirement have the rights to them? Can a team release those rights? Would they be subject to waivers? Would retired QBs have to be free agents at retirement to have the ability to unretire and sign with another team after the trade deadline has passed? Can NFL teams legally make under the table deals about next year's transactions as quid pro quo without penalties? Exactly what decent QB with anything possibly left in the tank could SF sign for the playoffs?

I agree that it was a penalty. I also agree that he did the right thing. He took one personally for the team. I do not fault him at all. I believe he tried to not him that high, he just couldn't do his job and get his form perfect in that time frame. Few are perfect.

Aaron Rodgers - Narcissistic, Greedy, Arrogant, Egotistical, Self Centered, Liar, Entitled, unwilling to accept the blame and always blames others for his weaknesses and problems, lacks humility and empathy. I was hoping for Hall with an early 2nd round trade up, but Beane flinched, panicked, and made a goofy trade up in the 1st that wasted his trade ammo to be able to grab Hall in the early 2nd. Not upset with the player selection, or their potential in the 1st, just the knee jerk panicked move by Beane.

I realize it would take a lot of good luck, but if Beane is the draft god many here believe he is, he will take the risks and trade down out of the 1st and package his later picks to swing a trade for two early Round 2 picks. He can solve two weaknesses with one selection by drafting Daxton Hill early in the 2nd. He could start at CB while Tre gets back to speed. He could later on in the year get time with Hyde to see how he pairs up with Hyde as a possible replacement of Poyer. If he doesn't work out with him due to his weaknesses at safety, he can stay at CB in the future. With our 2nd early pick we draft Breece Hall ,who can block, catch and run. We upgrade the defense and offense significantly in round two. A dual threat RB taking the pressure off the need for an early WR replacement pick. He can line up in both pass and running plays without signaling to the opposing defense what our designed plays are, either pass or run. Ideally a trade with the Lions, or even Seattle for early 2nd round picks, or a wizard combination of a trade down along with trading up from Beane with our later picks (and or players) to get two early 2nd round picks. We would basically be set for the draft after two early 2nd round picks. Going for our other real need with a remaining round 6 pick for a punter.

Go back and edit "We got Bruce Smith from Washington, not Buffalo." to "The older version we got of Von Miller is like the older version of Bruce Smith Washington got when he left Buffalo. Not sure exactly what you are arguing about. As long as the Browns can get Mayfield to agree to it, they definitely CAN extend and convert. They can bargain with Mayfield and compromise with him to give him something he wants in exchange for making the trade more attractive for the team he is traded to. Mayfield indeed has control on where he wants to go and the circumstances, and cant be unilaterally forced to accept the listed limitations on his contract rights.. This rule is designed to protect the player from being pressured into accepting the extend and conversion, not to forbid it from being done.

Agreed. It was not his fault McBeane signed him to a horribly inflated contract for his talent. When the officials suddenly started calling everything they could against Cinci in the last 2 minutes, when the Rams needed a TD to win, while letting almost anything goes by either team previously during the rest of the game. Just wondering, not declaring. Questions: Wouldn't the no huddle work better with a team with very good RBs and TEs and a strong running game. WRs running down the field deep will be winded quickly and need time to get back to setup properly, unless you quickly sub them out between plays, which requires excellent organization, practice, preparation and discipline by the coaches and players. Lots of pre-snap formation penalties otherwise. You would require real conditioning, discipline and excellent quality depth at WR. Do we have good enough quality RBs, and enough depth at WR? How important is having a good OL to making the hurry up work? The Kelly era teams made the hurry up so effective because they had Kelly, Thomas and a good Oline. We have Allen, but not sure about the rest of this current team and the skill required of the coaches. Is the WR depth good enough, and do they have the stamina and conditioning to do it? Do we have good enough coaching with the game management skills and ability to keep the team disciplined enough?

Don't know what you are trying to prove. The article you quoted talks about withholding rates. Again, withholding is not a final tax. At the end of the year the actual tax bill is calculated and your taxes are paid based on that final calculation. The bonus income is not taxed at a higher rate, it is just withheld at different rate. Your only extra loss because of the higher withholding is any loss of interest paid between the time of the withholding, and your filing of the years return and any tax refund issued.

There is a political breaking point if too many games are moved to pay TV only. The NFL has been granted many huge financial, tax, labor law and regulatory breaks that could become at risk if pay TV is taken too far, too quick. Maybe as someone said, if some kind of online gambling benefits could also be somehow included with the rights to the buyer, both the buyer and the NFL could further profit.

I'm not so worried about loosing Daboll. As long as he is replaced by a decent new OC. I am more worried about keeping the Allen/Diggs connection healthy. Diggs was the final piece of the puzzle. As long as they are in sync, and we have a decent Oline to protect Allen. the other pieces will continue to gel and fall into place. I am more worried that our ownership has a bad history of choosing coaches that destroyed a great defense. (Ryans). I just hope they don't repeat that error and screw this offense up.

Very Impressed with his performance today. He was a beast! Seemed more impressive than either S&M have been so far this year. I get that by the time he got in the game that the Miami team defense might have been gassed and running for the bus. But it didn't seem like they were either. Did Miami ever pull their starters toward the end of the game? And remember that when he was in, the Buffalo Oline was basically backups. Was he playing with an Oline made up of backups and a backup QB, against one of the NFL's top Defenses still playing their starters? He impressed, while Knox on the other hand, underwhelmed. If Knox was playing against a D that was gassed running for the bus, why did he continue to so underwhelm. I kept thinking that even though is was Barkley and not Allen running the offense, why did I keep saying "If Diggs had been out there those passes that Knox missed would have been caught for huge gains". While at the same time Williams was being a true beast. I really look forward to next year to see if William's game yesterday was just a one time fluke. I also want to say that while Barkley is definitely no Allen, and he was shaky, he did his backup job reasonably well, and actually exceeded my low expectations.

I sure hope he isn't planning on beating his own team.
