I dunno. A lot of people say it was great.

My unpopular opinion… it ushered in an age of pop singing where many stylists emulate this kind of what I call Elmer-Fudd-sitting-on-a-blender vocalizing. Or like a record skipping on the same note for 30 seconds at a time.

It has been said that if the Anthem takes longer than 45 seconds, the singer is making it about themselves and not about the song & Key’s lyrics.

Totally agree with this. She had a great voice but I really don’t care for performances like this.

Without doubt, this was the greatest.  If Whitney was so inspiring, why did the Giants go 9/16 on 3rd downs? As far as the war goes, as the great Bill Hicks said "a war is when TWO army's are fighting."

The republican guard fought for at least an hour.  Tell a fighter pilot that one.

Yep. Great voice but way too over-the-top singing for me. I do like some of her hits from her first album pre-crack.

There are more verses to Key's version that aren't sung interestingly

Carl Lewis’ version can’t be far behind for you.  In all seriousness, Whitney’s version gives me chills every time.  Hard to match the significance, her brilliance, and the hopes & dreams of Bills players, coaches, and fans that evening.  If we all only knew what was ahead for us.

I'm not sure what was better. Carl Lewis butchering the anthem or Charlie Steiner completely losing it and cracking up over it on SportsCenter. "Francis Scott Off-Key"
