What does this have to do with Sweden joining NATO?

You dimwit! Zelenskyy just gave you coward liberals the green light to join their national guard. So put your money where your big mouth is and sign up to fight! But you would never do that because you’re a coward.

Useful idiot wasn’t a strong enough description.

Putin is only now understanding his actions have no consequences????

He did when Trump was in office.

The whole world “canceled” Putin in 2022 to divert from Covid.

Is this fiery ordeal still a thing to people?

What a joke.

Pope Francis has been largely silent on the issue of the war in Ukraine aside from urging peace in the region, along with the rest of the world.

That changed last month during a little-noticed interview he did with a Swiss broadcaster. The Pontiff told the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (RSI) that Ukraine should have "the courage of the white flag" and put the humanitarian needs of its people ahead of pride or nationalistic goals.

It was an unusual stance for the Vatican to take, aside from its general opposition to war and conflict. It's not as if the Pope has shown any general support for Vladimir Putin or Russia (or any other country for that matter), but his position could be taken as a condemnation of both Ukraine and the United States for prolonging what increasingly seems to be a hopeless effort by Ukraine to defeat a significantly more powerful foe. Thank God!!! It's at least something

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2024/03/12/ukraine-weapons-package/

The Biden administration said Tuesday that it will send another $300 million in security assistance to Ukraine as President Biden’s request for billions of dollars more remains stalled in Congress.

The emergency package, announced by the White House on Tuesday, will be funded by “unanticipated cost savings” from contracts the Pentagon had brokered to replace weapons previously provided to Ukraine, national security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters. The package will include artillery shells and other weapons, he said.

“It turns out, we negotiated well,” Sullivan said. “Those contracts came in under budget, so we have a modest amount of funding available. And to a put a fine point on it, we’re able to use these cost savings to make this modest amount of new security assistance available right now, without impacting U.S. military readiness.”

Sullivan said the weapons approved for transfer include guided multiple-launch rocket systems, which the Ukrainian military has used to great effect against the invading Russian military.

“It is assistance that Ukraine desperately needs to hold the line against Russian attacks and to push back against the continued Russian onslaught in the east and in other parts of Ukraine,” Sullivan said.

Isn't that The House of Reps that is dithering?

In this case dithering is saving lives.  Of Ukrainians.

The new head of the Ukrainian army, Oleksandr Syrskyi, is known as “the butcher” by his own troops.  “He will kill us all” said a Ukrainian soldier who wished to remain anonymous for obvious reasons.  Ukrainian troops reportedly refer to the new commander of Ukraine’s ground forces as someone willing to put his troops in harm’s way to achieve his goals. Syrskyi, who was born in central Russia, is known for his “hard-driving Soviet-style” tactics.

Born in central Russia!   You might want to investigate this guy for ties to Putin.

The war is spilling onto Russian soil.  Hopefully the mirage of Russian power will soon crumble.  Could not happen fast enough.

Wow. It’s almost as if the best way to end the war without the complete destruction of Ukraine is to give them the ability to push Russia back and force them to the table.

Bad break for the Neville Chamberlin caucus who have played into Russia’s hands and ensured the war will rage on.

The question is, absent direct NATO involvement in combat operations, what does anyone think we can supply that will push the Russians back?  As the biggest issue is they're losing the war of attrition and running out of well-trained and capable combat soldiers.

Yes. Which is why they need ample supplies of artillery ammunition and SAM ammunition. When Ukraine has these two things, Russian advances halt and Ukrainian casualties drop.

Not exactly a huge ask, no?

I'm not sure.  I expect any escalation will be met by escalation.  While Putin can't be trusted he'll do everything necessary to end the conflict in his favor while not doing anything to embarrass Washington.  A difficult balancing act.  I also expect most Ukrainians are weary of the war and believe winning, as defined by recovering all lost territories, is no longer possible.  I think if Zelensky didn't cancel the coming elections he would be in danger of losing the presidency.  Recently dismissed military commander Valeriy Zaluzhniy is said to be a popular figure to both the military leadership and combat troops and civilians.  Now, even more popular than Zelensky.  Naming Zaluzhniy ambassador to the UK was Zelensky's way of getting a potential political rival out of the way without doing anything wildly stupid such as arresting or killing him.  Which might lead to a military mutiny and the end of his reign.  And then the new interim military government going to the bargaining table to end the conflict much to the dismay of US/NATO leaders.

Pentagon Giving Ukraine $300 Million Without New Congressional Approval

Back in December, the Pentagon announced that they had burned through all of the money designated to supply military aid to Ukraine, so future shipments would have to wait until Congress appropriated more funds. That hasn't happened because the House GOP is insisting that Joe Biden fix our borders before we blow even more cash on those of another country.

Now, it would appear that Biden's patience is exhausted because the Pentagon is shipping another $300 million worth of weapons to Ukraine anyway. How are they doing that? They claim to have mysteriously "found some cost savings" in their contracts. But in reality, they've already spent $10 billion more than they were supposed to on Ukraine. So much for oversight, I suppose. (Associated Press)

Oil prices rose around 2% Wednesday after production disruptions at several major oil refineries in Russia, following Ukrainian drone attacks.

Two primary oil refining units were shut down in Rosneft’s biggest oil refinery in Ryazan on Wednesday after a fire caused by a drone attack, two sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. Rosneft has not commented on the incident.

Meanwhile, operations at the Novoshakhtinsky oil products plant in the Rostov region were stopped after drones shot down by Russian air defenses fell on the facility, regional Governor Vasily Golubev said. Production was halted at another major refinery — Lukoil’s NORSI facility in the Nizhny Novgorod region —on Tuesday after a drone attack caused a fire.

Very serious country that we’re fighting a proxy war with..

So not only are you advertising NPC tweets from NPC twitter accounts, you're also advertising for Ukrainian pornstars?

#nuance

#criticalthinking

But if you want to watch some serious video about the war, here's two squads of Russians getting mowed down by Bradleys and drones.

There's no tweets or cleavage though, and it's very, very NSFW. You've been warned.

Do you feel like a big man sending the fathers and sons of another country off to war on behalf of America and the West to fight a proxy war against Russia?

Yes because the people of Ukraine have no free will.  You post a clip of some goofball like what?  It represents the whole country?  Then this comment.  Just plain dumb.   But hey, if people like you didn't believe propaganda there probably wouldn't be any.

You speak for all Ukrainians?

I don’t either, but there is clear evidence that plenty of men in that country don’t want to fight in this war, yet they are being forced to.

All because America and our Western allies want to bleed Russia dry by using a country steeped in corruption to fight our war.

You’re upset because I posted video of a pornstar being used to take pictures with their wounded?  Do you get upset when anyone posts their trans spokesperson who had to be removed from their position for talking about “hunting down Russian propagandists” or the nonstop rolodex of Nazis?

Because.. of course you would… and of course that’s a country our degenerate countries leaders would “support” i.e. use as sacrificial bodies for a Western war.

Russia isn’t good either .. but at least I don’t pretend they are.

They didn't give a ***** about Ukraine when Barry gave up Crimea (after his election...).  But since Trump wanted to investigate Joke for extorting them to fire a prosecutor looking into his idiot son's company, they love Ukraine now.  I really am starting to believe that if Trump said that breathing was great, they'd strangle themselves...
