I have this injury in my dominant arm. Had it for 12+ years. When the pain flares up it sucks.

Same here and I absolutely do believe it impacts his ability to throw as well as before.  When it gets inflamed, my whole upper back is a mess.

So mayfield will get a pass nationally for a bum non throwing shoulder impacting his stats, but Josh not given the same consideration last year when he hurt his shoulder and his stats dipped for a few games.

If we could only be so lucky.

I dont know why but Baker has always bothered me, he reminds me of a sober Johnny Manziel.

I will admit his commercials are pretty good, his agent doing a fine on with those.

Make that So Damn Lucky

As someone who partially tore their non throwing arm this would still majorly suck for a qb. It doesn’t really heal you just need rest and some Pt to build up strength around the area. Almost would be better to tear the whole thing and get surgery.

Surgery and he’s on the shelf for the rest of the year.

What I don't understand about these injuries that get revealed 2 or 3 weeks after the fact is how that applies to the reporting requirements for and violations of the weekly injury report.  Aren't teams obligated by the rules to report all injuries?  And shouldn't the Browns have reported that partially torn Librium on the injury report prior to the week 3 games?

They are but the injuries need to be material so if a team wants to hide a "reasonable minor injury " they can do it.  Did we ever report J Allen last year when he was hurt at the start of the season? Teams would rather not report some injuries, just give the opposition a reason to target the injury.

Oh and keep the gambles guessing.

He’s been terrible. They would have the same record with Keenum so just play him and let it heal.

I read that it doesn’t require surgery “at this time”.   I’ve had a torn labrum and they do not heal on their own.  You can live with it but it causes issues.  Mine was caused by bench pressing.  After an initial recovery period it was fine except when load was applied in that direction.  I couldn’t bench press without my shoulder starting to dislocate.  That was the worst of it.  I did eventually have the surgery and got an anchor put in.  Recovery sucked.   My arm was immobilized for weeks.  The atrophy was brutal, but Mayfield is a lot younger than I was.  This season the much of the pain should go away soon - except if it’s moved the wrong way or gets further injured.

The real risk is that by his body naturally protecting the injury, his mechanics will be thrown off and this can possibly lead to another injury somewhere else.  He will still try to make the throws, and there will be compensating muscles brought into play.  He could twist his back or neck, or who knows what else.

The Browns have a strong team and a decent backup QB.  They should sit Mayfield for a few weeks and bring him back halfway through the season to get them into the playoffs.

No because the injury wasn’t talked about much except for Matt hasselbeck on ESPN gameday. Baker’s shoulder has been discussed, by him, for weeks . He has a shoulder specialist named Dave Matthews

So I assume the physical therapy device Mayfield will use is the Dave Matthews Band.

Sorry, it was just sitting there.

If that is true, why would you put that out there?  So other teams can go after him, and defensive can play with more men in the box so they don't have to respect the intermediate or deep pass as much.

Damage control from the agent? He looks like crap.

I'm thinking of getting a specialist for one particular body part. Her name is Crystal.

I still don't understand how teams get away with this stuff, just like Brady apparently playing with a knee injury all last season despite winning it all again.

You would think the NFL would crack down on teams for not reporting injuries.

But as far as Mayfield specifically, he's one of the main reasons they blew the game in KC in week one so not sure what the goal is here other than making excuses for him still being nothing more than a glorified game manager.

He’s going to be wearing a harness, like Allen did.. probably a pretty big giveaway.

I don’t have anything against Baker, but it is hilarious how there was barely a peep about Allen dealing with the same thing last year.

Sucks for Baker and his team, that’s for sure, on the other hand, it’s a very good thing to have an opponents QB not able to play well for likely an extended per of time. Yeah sounds crass, but it is what it is especially in a gladiator sport.

Apparently it is affecting his throwing motion and impacting his accuracy...

"NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Browns QB Baker Mayfield suffered a partially torn labrum in his left shoulder in Week 2 against the Texans.

The good news is it's in his non-throwing shoulder. The bad news is that it explains why Mayfield has played so poorly the past two weeks, completing 53.1% of his passes for 6.2 yards per attempt while missing wide open receivers streaking across the field. Mayfield reportedly doesn't need surgery and will continue playing through the ailment, which could be spun as detrimental to the team rather than heroic. Case Keenum will undoubtedly come off the bench if Mayfield continues to struggle."

I thought when Josh had some kind of injury and was visibly wearing a linebacker brace he just sucked or was regressing.
