Suez is a one-way street. They take turns going in opposite directions... Is there an "emergency lane" if they gotta enter on the traffic side? 😉 29 minutes ago, WhoTom said: https://www.newsandguts.com/video/the-suez-canal-one-of-the-most-important-shipping-lanes-in-the-world-is-blocked @ExiledInIllinois would never have let this happen. PetermansRedemption
I’m obviously not very familiar with the area, but the initial reports stated high winds as the cause. Yet the reports list the wind gusts as 30MPH. Are those actually high in that part of the world? That certainly isn’t exceptionally high in the Northeast US

Yes. 🤣🤣No. But we have internet... 😁 There's no locks on the Suez. It's just a sea level ditch AND my first job with the Corps was a hydrographic surveyor. Taking soundings (depth readings, as you probably know) for dredging operations on the Eastern Great Lakes, also QA for construction on the Presque Isle erosion control project in late 1980s/early 1990s. Yes "depth" is my game. Yes... Dredge operations and construction, soundings is my lane, believe it or not! 😃😊 Digging and measuring... NoHuddleKelly12
@ExiledInIllinois, do you know if they have already offloaded ballast tanks/fuel to lighten the ship for high tide? Thought I read somewhere that would be 1st step with the tugs before offloading the containers as last resort?

They said 200,000 tons, those gotta be loads, loaded containers. . So I would imagine there's no ballast? I think I read it was going North to Amsterdam. Coming from the Pacific Rim, right?
