Kind of weird to be paying your 3rd string QB almost $3m.  Also were they really that afraid of losing him that they had to pay him that much?  Gruden’s a strange dude.

Is mariota a FA? Maybe they are letting him walk and NP is the actual backup

Mariota’s got 1 year $10.6m left for 2021, no dead money.  Wonder if this means Mariota or Carr are on the move.
There’s no way they’re cutting Mariota. If teams are that desperate that we’re talking about 1st rounders for Darnold, Mariota is fetching at least a 2nd rounder.

Good for Nate.  One game doesn't define a guy - that was a poor set of circumstances, to have his 1st start be on the road against one of the league's better pass rushes.

They're going to go with Fromm and Webb.

Yeah I just can’t see committing cap space to barkley like that. Love the guy as a teammate but he’s not worth valuable cap space because he’s not a good backup

You can talk about talent

And who has more of it

It’s enough to make your head throb

                                 There are backups with skills

                                            That some teams would covet

But it’s Late Nate who still has a job.

People here having a lot of fun with this...but it's worth recalling that the Bills paid AJ McCarron 4.1 million guaranteed dollars to be the 3rd string QB, only to cut him before the season started (which led to the infamous decision to make this same Nate Peterman the week 1 starter).

Last year, the Texans paid AJ 4 millions for a single pass.

Almost completely correct.  The Bills traded McCarron to the Raiders for a 2019 5th rounder.
