That was was dirty, I agree. But to say that’s why his career is over is a massive overstatement.

He got old.

Yeah, he didn’t have a strong leg to begin with. Maybe he lost a few yards from the injury, but he was getting older. The Hauschka hit is going to be the new Trent Edwards concussion. I saw someone mention the league trending towards kickers with stronger legs. I couldn’t agree more, and that trend wouldn’t leave much room for Haushka at any point in his career. He was really good for us, and an important factor in ending the drought. I do wish him the best.

I think they were concussed eyes. Hadnt he just been clocked  helmet to helmet with no call?

possible he was not in the game you can just see it in the eyes

IS it plausible he had a concussion unnoticed in todays football?

Dan Carpenter is #1 for FG %! and Rian Lindell is #2, Hauschka is third for that. That is the most important stat of all in my opinion.

It makes Dick Jauron's incredibly idiotic comment about Rian Lindell from the 2006 do or die game vs the Titans even more awesome.  Thats where Jauron wouldnt allow Lindell to kick a 45 yard FG into the wind to try and win the game. Jauron's rationale? He said something like " I looked into his (Lindells) eyes and I could see he didnt have it".  The Bills didnt try it and lost the game and were eliminated from  playoff contention.

Hauschka was never the same after the Anderson cheap shot.  Impossible to directly correlate the cheap shot to the end of his career, but circumstantial evidence certainly points in that direction.

Was that the same game in which Robert Royal lost track of where he was on the end zone, and failed to get his 2nd foot down on a fairly routine catch?

What? You realize this is the career record holder in most consecutive FG made over 50 yards right? Dudes that don't have strong legs don't make 58 yard FGs in NFL games.

His leg was perfectly fine.

Fair enough, I’ll admit my mistake. I really didn’t pay much attention to him in Seattle. He was very accurate with us, but it seemed like his leg strength was fading with us prior to the injury. I didn’t realize that his 50+ yard field record involved a few 55+ kicks as well. I assumed they were all in the 50-55 range, and I know that many of younger kickers are easily kicking from 60+. Hauschka did indeed have a strong leg at one point, but I’m still never going to blame it all on the hit. Bad take on my part, I can admit to that. I just didn’t remember Hausch ever having a big leg for some reason.

The crazy thing about the stats you show is the new kid is already kicking at the Steve Christie FG % even after his horrid start...

outside of Christie and Lindell, H Money was the 3rd best kicker we ever had. He was clutch and last year I never doubted he would make that 47 yarder in the playoff game.

Now that he's retired, he should say if it was because of that. Unless he mentioned it before and I didn't notice

And Greg Williams was the DC back then... how strange!
