Didn't they try this smear tactic already? WHen it happened?

Yes, this hoax was brought up 2 years ago and was disproved. It is just being recycled because the Left is running out of imagination.

Just now, wAcKy ZeBrA said:

AP, NY Times, Fox News, and of course The Atlantic have confirmed the initial story.

Quit CRUSADING, you already had one thread banned for this horseshit. All "sources" are anonymous, ie. not worthashit.

This is the new thread. The mods will shut it down if need be. Seems pretty weird we’re not allowed to have a thread about the most talked about political story in the country in the politics forum.

Keep it civil third and long, and all should be okay.

It's a hyped up rehash of a two year old hoax designed to bash Trump.

What Trump is accused of saying is just not in character with Trump's actions and other words regarding the military.

But suddenly no one on the left wants to listen to John Bolton, who was there and said none of it happened?

Talk about someone being a sucker.

But hey...you really got Trump now. The walls are closing in! His final days are here!

And Bolton's words carry the most weight.  He's obviously got an axe to grind so if this if this were true, he would have had no qualms admitting it.

Lost on otherwise reasonable libs.

I said a while ago, John Bolton is Cindy Sheehan with a moustache. Once the left was done with him, that was it.

It is ironic that now you who were criticizing Bolton a few weeks back, are now aciting as though you take his word. It goes both ways.

There are other possible interpretations for Bolton:

1- He is a lifelong Republican who got roasted by the party for speaking out about their crappy president, and has been mostly criticized by the left for being a coward...resisting testifying at the impeachment hearing, but then writing a "tell all", for monatary gain.  He is a man without a party right now...why not suck up to Lumpy one more time? He is a DC creature...Dems are never going to accept him...and for better or worse, whatever is left of the Repulican party is where some of his friends reside.

2- He could be senstitive to the deserved criticism that he, and other former Trump insiders who spoke out after the fact: "it this was happening, didn't you see it as your responsibilty to speak out then?"

Why did anyone believe this in the first place?  Because of what he said about McCain?  "It was a debate!"

I do not believe the McCain comments (there were a number of comments and tweets) were during a debate, but an interview.

Trump has a lot of nice things to say about the military when they can benefit his self-image...more props for his fragile ego.

Trump's whole world view is based on "winners" and "losers", not right or wrong. People who make money are "winners" and those who don't are "losers".  He doesn't have any concept of the notion of sacrifice for a greater good.

Then there are stories like this...the guy has some very strange ideas about military service.

Sure, maybe it's some elaborate scheme to get back in the good graces of Trump and/or the Repub party.  Or maybe what was alleged to have happened never really did and he is telling the truth in this particular instance, when he really has no reason to lie since he burned any bridges that were left?  Like he said, it would have been another juicy thing to add to his book.

No.  But he’s also not the type to kiss and tell in public about his time in the WH.

I don't guess he is worried about Twitter bullies, but I think he, as a soldier, won't speak out.  It is pretty clear that "Trumps' generals" all have a level of disdain for him.

Yeah  It seems like a political hit job because of that and nobody going on record.  It looked like they sprinkled in his attacks on McCain in the past to make the disparaging quotes about the military at large more believable.  It's also two months before an election and this happened in 2018.

So you believe everything Bolton said about Trump.

Now Trump is saying he even phoned Melania back in Washington to say how disappointed he was that he couldn’t go to the military cemetery outside of Paris. In fact, Melania was with him in Paris. He just made up his alibi. https://t.co/pYErQ3yMB6

That logic got twisted into a pretzel or two.  It reminds me of the logic you used to defend the legitimacy of the NBA when I gave you the results four years in advance....well I guess three years in advance, but the next four finals, all spot on.

What is stopping a reporter from claiming unnamed sources told him Biden does more than sniff the hair of 13 year olds?  Would Kemp start a thread about how Obama hadn't refuted it even if others had?  Would you twist around to show how this was "in character" ?

Exactly.  When we start making convenient assumptions based off our opinion (in this case, heavily swayed) and not based solely off of facts presented, well...   We become the cancel culture we all hate.  The danger of quoting “anonymous sources”, is it doesn’t allow the accused the chance to confront the accuser.  It’s a he-said she-said scenario where the only stakes in it belong to the accused.

While this doesn’t constitute illegal, our 6th amendment was put into place for this very reason.  What’s happening today is people are bypassing the “proof” aspect when accusing.  It’s called a baseless claim.  No witnesses or evidence, yet those who don’t like the accused say “Guilty!”.  I Know Kemp and others are trolling, but I truly hope those that have already decided guilt for someone they hate because it “sounds right”, never find themselves in such a scenario.

They don’t care, because in their minds universal health care will be the cure for everything that’s wrong.

The Atlantic’s Anonymously-Sourced Article Jump Starts The Permanent Pre-Election Anti-Trump Crisis News Cycle

As with Russia collusion reporting, expect bombshell media reports implicating Trump in wrongdoing, often dropped just before a weekend, to create a 2-4 day media feeding frenzy. As each crisis news cycle peters out, another bombshell is dropped, rinse and repeat
