Take the Covid19 discussion to one of the several appropriate threads dedicated to it.

I'm about to spend some time I could put to better use cleaning up the thread.

If you can't restrain yourself I will restrain you.

I guess..... the guy has averaged over 3.9 ypc ONCE in his 5 years. Yikes.

Oh, yeah, I'm talking $4,000,000-$5,000,000 range tops. No way in Hades I give him more than that. He's a solid receiving option though and would be a nice compliment to Singletary imo. When he comes in the game a defense wouldn't be able to just stack the box as they did with Gore.

Melvin Gordon is extremely overrated, and would likely cost over $10 million per year.

Just like Jadeveon Clowney, he is one that I would definitely pass on, unless we can somehow get him to take half of what he's looking for.

This is the point of free agency where smart GMs can often get players (who were disappointed in their markets) to take team-friendly/one-year prove-it deals.  I'm not sure Gordon or Clowney will ever get down to a worthwhile price range, but there may be some other guys on the market who can contribute.

Personally, I would really like another versatile CB who can compete with Levi Wallace and Josh Norman on the outside, but also help in the slot with Taron Johnson's injury history.

Beane is saving cap space because he knows Allen and Edmunds contracts will need to be re-upped in 2 years.  Plus he'll have Tre's new contract on the books and likely Dawkin's and/or Milano's.  JMO

a lot will change in 2 years...cap will increase...the FAs signed were for 2 years...most likely those players along with Hyde, Poyer, Hughes and Murphy will be gone...There will be plenty of space to sign who they want when time comes

Agree there is a 2 year window to spend on UFAs and make a run, before role players will have to transition to young rookie contracts.  SPEND to make that run and allow the flexibility for some of those contracts to come off to sign the CORE.  So the draft at this point is building the depth so we wont have the holes in UFA as some of our players leave because of Cap management.  That is also when we turn into the Ravens and Patriots with banking compensatory picks.

I'm curious what everyone around here thinks about possibly taking a shot at Xavier Rhodes or Trumaine Johnson?

Like Josh Norman, both guys have struggled mightily over the past few years.  But maybe our defensive coaches/system could rejuvenate their careers, especially if we could do a one-year prove-it deal.

I think we already have one of the best secondaries in the NFL.

But I went into the offseason thinking we need 4 guys capable of playing the outside (we only had 3 last year).  I would prefer that at least one of those CBs also be able to slide into the slot in case of another Taron Johnson injury.

That’s still not accounting for Jefferson or Matakevich. There may be more still.

Or the rookie pool.  Not having a 1st this year will help a bit :)

Oops it does include $5 million for the rookies.

They have plenty of money left.  Im curious to see if now Buffalo will circle back to one of the bigger names still available.  I dont expected but also wouldnt be suprised if they did.  With Brady out of New England the beleif in Buffalo must be they are in a prime position to take over the division.  Making another bold move could happen.

Exactly.  They reworked contracts to help this year and next, so they can still land a big name if they wanted to and work the contract specifically to fit future cap.  It may be lean this year, but everything opens next year, beautifully.  Beane has done a tremendous job thus far.

For those of us still sludging through a work day having some Bills rumors or reports would make the day go by quicker.

Not really much of a rumor, but TB is being floated as one of a few teams sniffing around Todd G.  Makes sense given his blocking and receiving ability.

Ya saw that.  I think with Arians age, Bradys age they are going all in for this year and maybe next.  That contract and his knee though will be hard to fit anywhere.

Do we have enough money left to bring one more solid guy ?

i saw 32M on the thread but i’m concerned about the extensions that will come like Tre, Edmunds or J.A. (if he step up on his game till the end of his rookie contract)
