More bad news for those with mild symptoms:

Dr. John Swartzberg, clinical professor emeritus of infectious diseases and vaccinology in the the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program:

”There is evidence now that the virus can directly attack heart muscle cells, and there’s also evidence that the cytokine storm that the virus triggers in the body not only damages the lungs, but can damage the heart,”   https://www.sfgate.com/science/article/COVID-19-damage-of-the-heart-15437575.php
Boston Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, 27, on Sunday confirmed that he was suffering from myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle, attributed to his coronavirus infection earlier this summer.

It's attributed to the the COVID.  Or, it could also be:

  • Coxsackie B viruses
  • Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)
  • Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
  • Hepatitis C
  • Herpes
  • HIV
  • Parvovirus
  • Chlamydia (a common sexually transmitted disease)
  • Mycoplasma (bacteria that cause a lung infection)
  • Streptococcal (strep) bacteria
  • Staphylococcal (staph) bacteria
  • Treponema (the cause of syphilis)
  • Borrelia (the cause of Lyme disease)
  • Fungal and parasitic infections can also cause it.
  • Other causes include certain chemicals or allergic reactions to medications or toxins like:
  • Alcohol
  • Drugs
  • Lead
  • Spider bites
  • Wasp stings
  • Snakebites
  • Chemotherapy and radiation therapy
  • An autoimmune disease that causes inflammation throughout your body, like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis, may also lead to myocarditis.

But it is definitely the COVID.

Do you have more information than his doctor who attributed it to Covid 19?

No, but just like every other viral infection, it can affect the heart.  Nothing "new" to see here - this panic porn is weaksauce.

You are delusional. The actual data does not support your case. Look at all these red states at the top of the list with most new cases.

Cali is hardly red, viruses don't care about politics, and as I said earlier  those states are catching up. virus gonna virus.

BTW the top 8 combined still don't have as many deaths as NY,  so I would have to say NY had the worst response possible.

Nine of the top 10 U.S. coronavirus hot spots are in Florida and Texas

The virus is out of control Gary - I really don't care what you think.

And I'd like a sortable version of that spreadsheet.  He's only looking at one data point: New Cases.  Garbage In/Garbage Out.

Jim, the website link is above.

No one is contesting that NY has the highest number of deaths...

But where are we today? Where are the hot spots? Mostly in red states with the exception of California.

What the hell would a friggin ophthalmologist know about covid anyway?

I have no idea what an ophthalmologist might know about COVID-19, but ... there are diseases an ophthalmologist might be able to diagnose before a person might have diagnosed from another types of doctor - diabetes for one.  Has anyone read anything about COVID-19 impacting the eyes? (I have not, I am genuinely curious and asking.)

You sir, are a total idiot! Almost all of the deaths were in NY City and the surrounding metro area. Not, NY State. And now you want to compare it to the entire coast to coast southern region of the country? The virus hasn’t gotten worse. It’s gotten better! And....you are CLUELESS about California. It’s a 100% left leaning state. We’ve done everything recommended by everyone since the inception of this nonsense and now it’s just our turn to get the virus. Once again YOU ARE A MORON!

Why?

Which patients received no care?

And which hospitals became that 1 hospital in Northen Italy CBS News used to say it was a NYC hospital back in late March.  Which ones?  Where in America is the number of patients overwhelming us?

It's more embarrassing than that. Their states literally have explained that if you sit at a bar and just have a drink, you can get Covid, but if you order THEIR definition of food to go with that drink, you won't get Covid.

Imagine hearing that explanation and saying "You know, this Cuomo/Newsome guy is pretty intelligent!"

There is a ton of that... Federal workers in DC apparently are impervious to COVID-19, but everyone else can catch or spread it, so those people should wear a mask. People who sing in church can catch or spread COVID-19, but screaming "***** You!" at police while rioting and looting? The looters and rioters are immune. People can be squished on a plane and be fine, but do not fill an open air stadium with sports fans. Those scuzzy sports fans will catch or spread it. Daycare centers can remain open, Ys can take care of children, but going to school? Everyone is gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiiie. Cuomo can go to Georgia and not have to self-quarantine on return because he is an "essential employee" and apparently COVID-19 doesn't infect "essential employees."  (and on and on and on)

But yeah, sure, a black, female doctor from Africa who has reported her in-field findings with a 50¢ per dosage medicine is the crazy one. <_<:death:

Note: I have no idea if that doctor is certifiable or not. But shesh people, if you do not want to listen to her in-field findings, how about the other doctors who reported the same type of findings at the same time? You gonna go sorting through their beliefs too to see if they align with yours, and then, maybe, possibly, listen to their findings? Or nawwww?

I believe the real question is why didn't NY close faster!!!  Like in November.

You think this virus is out of control?

0.28% of the worlds population has been infected.

You conveniently missed a big one.

And funny how you blame the governors but you post a pic of Trump.  Trump Trump Trump Trump.  Tool

There are study after study suggesting that the damage done to people's financial and mental health by not reopening will greatly outweigh the damage done by the virus.

If only Trump was forthcoming with his intelligence in November 2019 150,000+ Americans wouldn't be dead.

Trump's incompetence, lack of leadership, and dereliction of duty has led to so many unnecessary pain and suffering.

Thank you for his support - all these dead people appreciate it.

Not sure where you get this November thing, the WHO didn't announce that  Kung Flu could be transmitted human to human until January.

So you are claiming that Trump knew more than the WHO?

Virus going to virus, no grandstanding by a politician is going to stop it, all we could do was slow it down.

And I am certain a good  statistician could show you that all the countries have about the same number of infection/100k population, the variation in numbers after factoring numbers of people tested.

My post was in response to an earlier one by one of our trolls under their new name of the week, who quoted an article saying that two of the doctors from the Frontline doc group were ophthalmologists...as if an eye doc has no authority to chime in on covid. My point in posting the article was that the Wuhan doctor who first noticed covid cases and blew the whistle on the CCP was in fact an ophthalmologist himself.

When you look at a State like Florida's daily new cases count, what exactly was telling you they reopened too soon?  That the outbreak happened when they did?  That's called nature/science.

From March 20 to June 1, they were averaging about as many new cases a day as the State of New York was averaging deaths for the month of April.

So if that metric requires lockdowns, then why is NY reopening?  Those current new case numbers in NY are the numbers Florida had for the first 2 months of this.

How do you tell your voters after TWO PLUS MONTHS OF NOTHING "yea we need to not reopen."

This is just so stupid.

I don't get this either.  The whole "he knew in November" thing.

If that's the case, something absolutely happened at the World Military Games in Wuhan.

It's amazing how little attention that gets.  Those events were in Wuhan in October.  I'm sure nothing happened.

The HCQ discussion is ongoing. So far here, I only see people talking about how our president should not be quoting doctors who think that demon-seed causes disease as a credible source in the middle of a pandemic

Is that really too much to ask? Are your expectations for Trump that low?

That discussion isn't actually part of this thread that I've seen--but maybe it's on other parts of this site. I keep raising that our president quoted a tweet that highlighted the demon-seed alien DNA "doctor."

The first reported cases were in December.

The November case wasn't identified until later.

FTA: On Dec. 27, Dr. Zhang Jixian, head of the respiratory department at Hubei Provincial Hospital, reported to health officials in China that a novel coronavirus was causing the disease; by that day, it had infected more than 180 individuals. (Doctors may not have been aware of all of those cases at the time, but only identified those cases after going back over the records, the Morning Post reported.)
