Seeing how the seeding won’t be affected, is there more to lose than to gain by playing starters vs the Jets?

Long story short, they need the work.  They'll be fine, the coaches will call plays that keep them out of trouble.  Real generic *****.

I know how some others feel (why take the risk?) and I get that. I think it depends on The Who, When and How. If it’s like preseason game #1 or 2 and something freaky happens in a series or two, that’s just football and could have happened in practice. I know the other side, don’t play, don’t get hurt. I’ll trust the coach to be smart on this one.

It may be a little like preseason, where it doesn’t “matter”, but they want to build a culture of winning and high expectations.

As long as it's not outwardly dirty - which could easily happen with Gregggg on the other sideline - then it's just part of the game.

That said ... if they're not on the field, it's very likely that they won't get hurt.

I just can’t see any positive that comes out of any starter playing. You aren’t going to be able to build on anything against that team. All that can happen is bad IMO. It’s truly senseless. We are in the best spot that we have been in for 20 years. Why risk something dumb? It’s rhetorical. There’s no actual answer.

I don’t think they will be in more than a quarter or a half.  I wouldn’t worry about it.  They’ve had 15 games and almost no one was hurt. I understand the concern.  I really do.

what McD says and what he does are two things.  When was the last time Belicheat was honest with the media?  If I’m wrong I understand and those that think we should sit everyone could be right.  Just an opinion.

You still have to play starters no matter what. There just isn’t enough room on a roster to only play backups. Sure, rest some of the guys and yes there are a handful you can just make inactive, but there are still guys who are important to the team during the playoffs who have to play. I understand the premise of what’s being said here, but I get the feeling people think you can just pull every starter and have them sit out most/all of the game.

its important for young players to prepare like its any other week and get some full speed reps in. you dont want them going into the playoffs any bit rusty. remember how we looked after the bye week? you dont want that vs houston. smart move by MCD and BB

Oh, McDermott made it clear he would, in his pressers.  Said that he knew there would be second guessing either way.  Buck stops with him, he knows it.

Playing the game presents the risk of injury. There are other dangers we need to avoid, like wet mats. In little league right before a game I turned and bumped my head on the flag pole. I got a goose egg so big on my forehead the helmet wouldn’t fit. It’s a dangerous world!

I agree with you.

I'm fine with a good amount of the starters playing. They won't play the entire game, just enough to keep them in good form for the following week.
