Josh is horrible on long throws all 4 games

The OP is 100 percent correct. His deep throwing has been horrible this season. All misses so far. No drops by the receivers on any of those throws either.

Oh, you mean the throw Zay gave up on and didn't bother trying to break it up? Yeah, that one was underthrown a bit, and was a pathetic display of Zay bailing out instead of trying to break it up.

No, he has been horrible all season. He is something like 0-10 with two picks on deep/bomb throws. None have been catchable.

I know, it's quite disturbing. He was money on deep balls last year.

Even the connection he had with John Brown deep over the middle.... I wanna say the Giants game. Had he not had to jump to catch the ball he would have scored. The deep ball has been abysmal

I think it’s decision making more than anything.  Defenses still have to respect his arm strength.  Just keep the chains moving.  Stop looking for highlight plays all the time.

Was going to say something like this. There’s nothing wrong with drinking and dunking to move the chains. Brady’s been doing that his whole career. Mahomes has changed the way people perceive a quarterback should play with all his highlight reel throws. Thing is, he has the talent surrounding him that makes it possible to put up those big plays. Josh does not.

He spent so much on the short game that i think he took his deep ball for granted. He definitely needs to work on it and stop throwing off his back foot.

In todays game - he was throwing the deep ball under duress - hence as you mention off his back foot.  The deep ball needs to be thrown when you can properly deploy good mechanics.  It's just part of the process of watching a young QB learn I suppose.

There's so much to like about him and I think he gets there.

The 1st and 2nd interceptions he had all day to throw.

Throwing the deep ball under duress is going to be common in a "short to long" progression.

He has no touch on the deep balls. You can't just gun them downfield. He needs work on that, but that's probably for the off season.

Oftentimes he doesn’t put enough air under it which allows his WR to run under the ball or adjust their route to accommodate a less than perfect throw. He just fires it down field like a bazooka.

He doesn’t have to be Jeff Blake but damn Josh, put some air on those throws.

He improved his accuracy in short and medium ropes. But his long shots are all underthrown or overthrown. Not only today picks . I can remember only 1 long TD pass by air in 4 games - to Smoke in Jets game.

Last year he had several long passes to Foster and completion to Zay for 63 yards by air (next gen stats)

In draft his best advantage was cannon arm.  I rooted for this draft pick watching his college highlights for 50-60 yards bombs. Where is it now ?

He needs to get more air under them and throw more of a rainbow so his receiver can run under it. He zips it in there too hard and if he’s not super accurate it just flies over wrs head. On a fly route if the ball is accurate it would be a tough catch any way  because of the angle.

It seems like he only throws the rainbow about 15 yards down field to the sideline. Idk why he won’t do it any deeper

The one John Brown caught for the game winning TD in NJ was generously called a "back shoulder" throw the TV play-by-play guy when it was just a wounded duck thrown in the general direction of the WR.

A couple guys I know who are Pats fans have seen Josh Allen only twice now. The Pats games of course.  They think he is one of the worst QBs they have ever seen.  I’m trying to defend the guy.  I thought he was pretty average to below against Cinci.  I thought he sucked today.  Our receivers aren’t the greatest either but he misses dudes all the time. Cmon man, he’s better than this

I do remember chuckling when he said that....

They threw deep to Zay 3 times today. He is not our deep guy and is slow and was overthrown because of that. I have no clue why he is running the deep routes.

Exactly....Zay should be only used on short/ intermediate possession routes. Never use him for fly routes or hitch n go. Brown & Foster only Dabol....
