why is an unknown sap on a practice squad with minimal salary docked six games( misdemeanor -has been on exempt list) while the Patriots have cocaine trafficking ( Chung) , Sexual assault/Rape ( Brown) , prostitution ring ( Owner) all participating?

The "sad but true" answer?

Who makes the NFL more money? A bunch of bad apples that are good at football with a team that has probably forced kids in China to work 26 hours days instead of 24 to make enough Pats gear for everyone or.... Just another guy?

Protect the Shield my ass.

"Shield to protect" is what they mean.

His suspension is barely even a blip in the media radar and that isn't going to earn the NFL any money.  It will get dragged out as long as they can before they make a decision regarding the other guys.

according to this article, suspended players are moved to the reserve/suspended list and do not count against the 53 man roster.

Quote

Reserve/Suspended

Players who have been suspended by the NFL are not eligible for PUP (unless they have a pre-existing injury situation that's keeping them out of practice). Suspended players are allowed to practice during the offseason and play in preseason games.

During final roster cuts, suspended players are moved to the Reserve/Suspended list and do not count against the 53-man roster limit. They are not allowed to be around NFL team facilities while being forced to train on their own, absent from their teammates and coaches.

Vontaze Burfict is suspended for Weeks 1-4 and will not count toward the Bengals’ 53-man roster during that gime. He will be allowed to rejoin the Bengals on the Monday after the team’s Week 4 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Corresponding roster moves must be made for players on the Reserve/Suspended list once their suspensions are over and they’re ready to re-join their teams.

This happened months ago. Seems to fly in the face of the praise heaped on McBeane in here and elsewhere for their not tolerating unsavory types.

Owners, GM's and coaches will deny it as best they can but know their team, and every team, have players of questionable character, to say the least.

Standing on a high horse regarding your teams players is a tough sell given the league history and often folly. But I'll still watch....I'm not that pious.

...there is absolutely no NFL consistency in these matters.....criminal cases regardless of adjudication or civil cases whether decided or pending...Goodell as judge, jury and executioner is a woeful failure in consistency.....depends on the direction of the wind IMO......and the cash cow advertisers don't seem to give a rat's azz.....just keep ponying up $$$.......

Shouldn't week 1 count as time served?

This is what needs to be fixed about the commissioner's exempt list. You should get credit for weeks already missed and just have to pay back your game checks for those weeks.

It makes absolutely no sense that, for example, a guy could miss 8 weeks on the exempt list before getting suspended for 6 games and miss a total of 14 games for what turned out to be a 6 game violation.

Not sure how this isn't already in place.

Well, one of the things that needs to be fixed.  Consistency about who goes on it when and why would be good, but you ID another flaw.

Exactly! There are people on this site in other threads defending both Brown and Kraft. It’s head scratching.

Well there are extenuating circumstances.

Everybody has different opinions of some laws like weed smoking and prostitution.

One claims he has first hand knowledge that it was false so must be the hand that serviced Krass.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane was clear, opening a Thursday-evening media scrum on the suspension by saying that Dodson’s good standing with the team was dependent on whether the domestic violence charge remained part of the equation.

“He has no charge of domestic violence,” Beane said. “Obviously if he was charged with domestic violence we may be in a different position team wise with what we’re doing.”
