Nice List. I debated between Malcom and Keith for a while. Only reason I didn't pick Moon, was because I already had Entwistle on bass.

I had Mitch Mitchell on drums, but had to remove him because I have Jimi as one of my guitarists.

My dream band pretty much already exists.

Their called Led Zeppelin.

Really difficult to improve upon any of the 4 members, particularly in the early days when Robert Plant was still really young and had that absolutely wicked voice and Jimmy Page was not a heroin addict.

Pretty much same thing with Cream.  Only room for improvement with them would be vocals on songs where Jack Bruce did the singing, as he wasn't a very good singer IMO.

Love Eric Clapton's voice though.  Which reminds me: Eric Clapton has to be considered #1 in terms of a guy who can sing, and play a guitar.  He's on the short list of best guitar players all time, and actually quite a good singer.

Freaking talented guy.  Very few names could even be put on a list for comparison, mostly b/c they wouldn't have the guitar playing skill to compete with him.

Jimi Hendrix comes to mind, as does SRV.  Clapton is a much better singer than both those guys though.

This was out of left field, but I love it.

I had a hard time coming up with a piano/keyboard player that I go out of my way to listen to. Most are either in the background or more about the songs and vocals than the instrument IMO. In hindsight I'd probably go with Derek Sherinian with an honorable mention to Jordan Rudess. But Valby is probably the only piano player I ever bought a ticket to go see. And yeah, I was going for raised eyebrows and a laugh. Nice to see you and Ridge got it.

On a related note, I tried to stay away from the obvious iconic choices (Beatles, LZ, Stones, Who,...). I'm far more interested in the non-obvious. Props to:

You: Bob Seger.. I love Seger, can't stand Springsteen...go figure

Gugny: Brad Delp...I do not listen to Boston's debut album often enough

Joe in Winslow: Josh Homme...had to google, for whatever reason they never struck me...what's a good starter album, I've probably been missing out

Seasons1992: Flea...great call

GETTOTHE50: Barry Gibb...I'm not sure which Gibb this is...and I'm OK with that

Man, this is tough.  Do you come up with the best of the best, or do you come up with who you think would sound the best together as a unit.  Like, Ringo isn't the best drummer by any means, but he was absolutely perfect for the Beatles...alright here goes.

Vocals - Janis Joplin

Lead - Duane Allman

Rhythm - Keith Richards

Bass - John Paul Jones

Drums - Jimmy Chamberlin ... what?  Smashing Pumpkins drummer?  Yes.  He is an amazingly trained jazz percussionist with tremendous versatility who is highly underrated.  Moon just wouldn't fit in right with this lineup I think.

Keyboards - Ray Manzarek

Lyrics - Bob Dylan

I don't know producers or composers well enough to put in here.
